Like you said, there will always be minor things, but the major things will slow. We built and bled a ton of money on that. Waited 3 years and did the basement. We're doing a sunroom in spring and it's the first big project we've done in 5 years. We're back on the little stuff train too right now, but it's been over a year since we even did that.
It was a nice break but I'm all ready for shiny new pretty stuff.
No, never. I'm pretty sure that by the time the current list is finished some of the first things will have to be done again. I remember reading the Eiffel Tower takes 7 years to paint and by the time they get to the top the bottom is ready to be repainted. Pretty sure my house is the same way.
I don't even know where to post an intro here! I was on TK/TN/TB since 2003, mostly local boards. I was m_and_m.

I can see my house getting to the maintenance point. For me anyway. The next owner might want changes but I'm going to set everything up how I like it and just paint and update furniture as we go along. My taste tends to be contemporary/classic so it won't get dated too much. I find if you are never totally on trend you are never totally out of fashion.
Yes. We had no projects for 3 years (outside of our shit happens projects-HVAC and eventually our water heater). After I'm done with the laundry closet and rear garden, we'll be at 0 again.
We bought the house we currently live in with the idea that we wouldn't have any major projects-just minor projects here and there.
Yeah, we moved into our house about 8 months ago and there's still a contractor's lock box on the back. We're close to finishing but it will probably be the end of August before everything is done. I'm so over it. On the bright side, it's been a ton of fun furniture shopping.
I was going to answer along the same lines as m1and1m - I fear that as soon as we are "done", we will just start all over again. Or even just then sell and move to another house that we would work on making our own.

We will always have a punch list even though we are finishing a whole house remodel pretty soon. The big stuff will be done but there will always be little things...I'm sure of it!!!
There is only so much big stuff, and if you plan it right, you aren't replacing, repairing or remodeling again for some time, and it will be spaced out.
The things we've been doing for the past year+ are all things that should last for some time, so we are hoping for just maintenance and minor tweaking for years.....well, except for the two bathroom renos somewhere down the line.
Decorating is another story. We are never finished decor-wise. We seem to just like to get things that appeal to us, so the decor evolves.
I hope so...but knowing us, probably not. We're in our 3rd house in 11yrs and we moved once we got close to being done. I was just saying how after our kitchen mini-remodel and new car ( both we are on the verge of doing) that we'll be done with major stuff...then DH started rattling off a bunch of other things...lol. I am guessing once this house gets done we'll rent it out for a good profit and finally build our custom modern home--which I'd guess is in 5-10yrs.
I think we're five years away. Of course, we might eventually remodel the kitchen again but that would be 10-15 years from now. We'll have a decent break beforehand.
Even when we're done gutting rooms and stuff like that, we'll find something to do. The house is old, and it's how we are. If it weren't house stuff it would be something else. I would probably do more projects like furniture refinishing and H would work on cars.
Hell no. As long as we own a house there will always be something. Might not be major but always a project. It might be something simple like a new paint color so not a major project but there will always be something.

Lol! No! We moved into a house that didn't need major changes and there is still a ton of stuff on our list. And the rental which we gutted 10 years ago when we lived there also has its own list.
Do you ever think that there will be a time where you have zero projects on the horizon? The only major projects we had left were kitchen and master bath remodel. I know minor things will come up here and there but I wonder how many years we can go with no major projects. We love our house and I don't foresee wanting any major changes. I just hope we can stop bleeding money at some point.
I hope so...
But the list is ongoing so probably not! At least it will hopefully move from the inside to the outside.
