on Wednesday evening my pup and I will be on an overnight, cross-country flight. She is coming in cabin with me. We're good to go on the logistics: carrier, health certificate, I will carry her vet records with us, her flight is booked already, etc. but am wondering if others have suggestions that I am not thinking of to make the trip go easier.
We're planning to hit the dog beach that day before we leave so that she is nice and tired out before we get to the airport.
Going through security is the part I know nothing about. I know she will need to come out of her bag for that. Does she go through the body scanner with me? Is that safe? Can she wear her collar when we go through or does that need to go through the x-ray machine?
I am going to bring a change of lining for her carrier and a plastic bag in case she potties on the one we put in there. I also might bring paper towels.
Should I bring treats to feed her during take-off and landing (will swallowing help her ears like it does for people?)? Is that safe? What about a bully stick to chew on during the flight? Safe or no? Good idea or bad? She gets cold really easily, so should I pack her a sweater and put it on her before we board?
Any advice you have would be wonderful! I am a little bit nervous but not too bad. I just want it to be as stress-free and safe as possible.
