He's doing really well! We have his first doctor's appointment tomorrow morning, so I hope that will go well. He only cries a few times a day, and he's pretty easily soothed. The only times he's really fussy is when he has gas, which is something I'm going to ask the doctor about. He's not gassy often, but when he is, he seems really uncomfortable. He's managed to pee/spit up on 5 different outfits and swaddles in the last three days, lol. He peed on his own face last night It was so pathetic and I felt bad, but it was also hilarious.
Nursing is going better than I expected! I think day 2 and 3 were the worst for me, so far. My milk came in last night, so I was really engorged and in a lot of pain, but that seems to have decreased already. My nipples are still on fire, but I've read that can take 2-6 weeks to go away. He's latching well most of the time, and will sleep a good 1-2 hours after feeding. My uterus doesn't contract as much during nursing anymore, which also makes it a better experience.
The first three nights he was up constantly between feedings. I was in the hospital alone the first night (H wasn't allowed to stay) and I had to do a lot of rocking. The next two nights we were at home and H let me sleep except for feedings. But last night we both got to sleep at the same time! We went to bed at 11:30 and got up at 8:30, with three feedings in between. Milo fussed a little, and H took care of him, but that was only a few hours of the night. So between those times he slept in his bassinet for 5 1/2 hours! He feeds more often at night than during the day, though, so the stretches of sleep aren't terribly restful.
I spend a lot of time just staring at him He's so cute. Even Pippin seems to like him! Every so often he'll come over and sniff Milo's head, and last night he licked his feet (baby was NOT a fan). Sorry this got so long!

Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job!
The gas is going to trouble them until they get a bit bigger IME. We used to gently bicycle DD's legs, or hold her on her side in the crook of one arms (panther on a branch, our pedi calls it) I found that the left side worked best to get things moving.
He'll soon learn to differentiate night from day, and switch to more feedings during the day then the night, but it was sort of round the clock for like 3 weeks as I recall. If you keep it light and noisier around the house during the day, and dark and calm at night, it will help him make the connection. But yeah, he sounds great to me!

Oh and my nips felt like they were on fire for like, 6-8 weeks whenever she latched?? I used to tell DH it was like glass coming out; I wouldn't even let the shower water touch them! It's hard at first. Really hard. But I'd just grit my teeth and try to breathe. By 10-12 weeks out, it will feel soooo much better. Hang in there.

Everything she said is what I tell my new mommies.
Thanks jjwritergirl and estrellita! It honestly never entered my mind that he could look like me because H's family has such strong genes, but I think you're right H says he makes all of my grumpy facial expressions. Apparently I have many, lol.
