I went off the pill in April after 15 years. I was on seasonale so I only had a period every 3 months. We are TTC, but not actively charting, temping etc. The first month I had my period about 35 days out. This time I am at 56 days with no period and no symptoms. I have tested twice and both were negative. I expected to have some crazy cycles since I initially went on the pill because I had very heavy flow every 2 weeks. I am 30 years old.
Has anyone experienced something like this? At what point should I go to the doctor? I saw my OBGYN before TTC and he had no concerns and said I didn't need to come back until I got a positive test unless it was my annual.
Thanks for your help! And sorry if this is a newbie question but I'm not telling people we are TTC so I have no one to ask!

My 9th cycle post partum was 86 days long. Negative pregnancy tests & all kinds of insanity. Hormones just flat out stink sometimes. If you make it to cycle day 60 then I think it's safe to call your doctor to ask for a prescription for Provera to jump-start your period.
It's probably your body trying to figure itself out. I would have a chat with your doctor. Good luck.
Wow -i can't imagine 86 days! I feel like I am going crazy at 56 so another month of this sounds unbearable! I didn't know that there was something that would kick start a period so I will call my doctor if I make it to the end of this week with no changes.

Hi - I'm a MM regular - but it's slow over there so I'm popping over here.
When I got off BC (after being on for 13 years), the first cycle was 34 days, then 38 days, then 60 something days (I remember because I asked my Dr about it and they said I had to go 90 days w/out a period before they'd do anything). With in 3 more 'normal' (40 ish days) I was pregnant with my DD.
PP I didn't have a period for 7 months. And no, I wasn't breastfeeding that whole time and I wasn't pregnant. My body just sucked.
I was on Seasonique for a few years before we started TTC, so I was also only having a period every 3 months. My cycles were very irregular. I had one cycle of probably 60 days and every other cycle was around 45 days until I got pregnant.

Being on a BCP like that for such a long while can just completely whack out your system for quite a while. Really long or very short cycles are not strange at all (unfortunately). If you want to know if/that you're ovulating, the only way to figure it out is by charting (and preferably both mucus and temp). That way you can figure out if your ovulation is just extremely late, or that you're not ovulating (and you might want to try to figure out why.) Especially after coming off such a long time of hormones, both could very well be possible (and could very well regulate itself in a while).
I went off bcp last may (2011) and had 3 normal periods (28 days). Then nothing for almost 100 days. The doctor in the town I was living in, not my doc, told me it was stress an not to worry about it.
I was worried as DH an I were thinking of TTC at the end of last year, so I went to my doc when I went to my hometown for Christmas he jump started my period with a medication, I had 2 periods in that first month. After that no period for another 2 months so he put me back on the bcp for 3 months. I had 3 normal cycles then after the 3 months another 54 days with me period. I got my period last week for the first time in almost a year that wasn't drug induced. (if that makes sense)
So it can take forever, or at least feel that way!
I have PCOS and my cycles when we started TTC were way wacky 60 days, 90 days, 28days, never could tell what was going to happen. I say if things don't regulate after 6 months see a doctor, don't wait a year, I wish I hadn't waited a year.
