DH has had his heart setting on staying at Atlantis for years. So we're going in late August/early Sept.
We'll have an apartment at their Marina. Still on the property, so will have access to all amenities.
Sailing charters look expensive and not worth the cost for a half day.
What else is there to do that's not a typical tourist trap? Or what can we do along the lines of a stingray encounter that is allowable with a 17.5 month old?
We normally go for excitement and adventure. But I see this trip as being dry, in the sense that we will either have to take turns with most attractions or not partake.
DH is against lugging DS's car seat with us, so we won't stray far.
Kid-friendly restaurants suggestions would be great, as would ideas on where to shop for local produce.

Nassau was one of our best trips with DD (at 13 mos)!
We did
-dolphin encounter, DD did it too, where you get in the water with a dolphin, it kisses you one the cheek, and there were a lot of other animals to walk around and look at.
-the snorkeling catamaran. it was about 30 min of snorkeling, so i did 15, and DH stayed on the boat with DD< then we switched. by the end we just had her floating in her vest int he water.
-ardastra gardens (little zoo, mostly birds) that was nice. We eat delicious conch salad at Goldie's (near there) for lunch. We just took the city bus transportation here.
-rented kayaks at our hotel and kayaked around with her.
-beach, pool, the usual.
Atlantis has really nice aquariums too I am sure your DS would love.
We have been several times with our son. Quite honestly he loved the aquarium and the pools so much we didn't do much. At some times of year they offer a free dolphin show. They have several kids pools with really small slides tucked away for little kids. I know there are a few small slides near the pool with the seahorses for sure. The beach is always fun for sandcastles. There is a grocery delivery service that we have used before....we like having food for breakfast and lunch and then we eat out for dinner. THey have a website if you google. I can't remember the name. You can shop online and they deliver right to your condo and put it in the fridge for you! Works for me! Also, bring some movies...the condos have DVD players. We have used the babysitting service there a few times....we always have Miss Mary. Our son loved her every time.
Restaurants: Anthony's for casual breakfast....pretty good value and food Carmines - Italian for dinner. You will have leftovers! Marketplace - very kid friendly buffet but has a lot of things you will like too. Johnny Rockets - for burgers and hotdogs If you have a babysitter or want to bring your little one with you for a nicer dinner - Meza (Bobby Flay restaurant)is very good. We love the courtyard restaurant at the Bahamian Club....very elegant and good food.
