Hi everyone, We're moving to London in August and will be staying at the company's apartment for a month before finding our own furnished apartment. I'm wondering if it's necessary to take my son's crib or to just get one there? Are they reasonably priced? We're leaving all our furniture in storage, just wondering if to take the crib since apartments just typically have beds. I really don't want to take it! We're going to have a sea shipment but not a huge one!
Thanks for the suggestions! We might just get one at Ikea. I've been to one close to my aunt's place in Tottenham before. Great idea to also ask the landlord, never thought of that.

Eeehhh, If I asked the landlord to provide a cot, I would specify exactly which one and that it is new. You never know what people might do, especially to save money. Can you bring a pack and play on the plane and either ship the crib or buy an ikea one when you get here?

I had an Ikea crib in the states that I gave away when we moved. We bought the exact same Ikea crib again in HK after we got here. They have cribs as cheap as $80 so it just seemed like the easiest thing to do.
I don't think it would be a bad idea to have a travel cot (phil & teds, baby bjorn, etc.) available for the first few days until you can get to an Ikea. It will also be nice to have if you plan to travel at all.
Thanks ladies! We have a pack and play that we can use for a few days. UnderProtest, I believe we'll be close to Waterloo before we rent our own place. It's not 100% confirmed yet though.

There's an IKEA near Wembley stadium which is probably closer if you are in Waterloo than the Tottenham one (in case you are taking a taxi). And welcome to the London group!
Be aware that a crib is called a cot here. A crib in the UK is small, a similar size to a basinet. So make sure you use the correct terminology when asking.

Thanks! I found that out when I did a search for cribs on Amazon UK!
Hey fbf2006 we're using a Baby Bjorn travel cot/crib for our youngest (18 months) on a semi long term basis and it works great. Just thought I would throw that out there if you want to buy one in the US (usually cheaper than over here) and bring it over with you on the flight. Easy set-up and they have great resale value.
