We had a fun, but busy weekend. We had a family grad party on Saturday afternoon, and a family bday party/clam boil on Sunday afternoon. The mornings were spent shopping for gifts for each event, with a little playground time added in for Henry.
Henry, ever the social butterfly, was thrilled to be at both parties and soaked up all the attention and love from his many adoring relatives
I am in no way ready for Monday, haha. This is the second weekend in a row that I haven't gotten a break at all. Also, Henry is well into 2yr molar teething, which means we are both up in the nights lately. Add in my feeling depressed and adjusting to my meds...yeah, I could use a breather.
My brain hurts. I'm sleepy. And I'd like the cleaning fairy to come do a once-over on my house.
Hensmum - glad you had a nice weekend. Isn't it funny that how even at family functions, as the primary caregiver you still never really get a break? I hope you at least got to take a few bites of food without a toddler in your lap
Butterfly - drunk people watching can be some good times.
My weekend was nice. Saturday I took Jelly Bean to a county fair. K wanted a day to herself which was fine by me. I actually took JB to the fair last year, when K was away, so it was neat seeing the difference in just one year. She loved the animals and we watched the equestrian competition for awhile. Later in the afternoon I set up her new pool (blow up pool, but this one has a slide and a dragon that spits water) and we had pool time together.
Sunday we did our grocery shopping and then weekend chores. Some friends of ours, who live in Mexico, were in town so they came over for dinner with their two youngest kids (7 and 3). It was fantastic seeing them and enjoying a summer dinner with friends.

So true! And I DID! I am pretty serious business when it comes to eating shellfish, so I made darn sure I had some time to dig in uninteruppted ;D
I was hoping for more weekend time - as long as the kids were in camp.
We were all kinda blah this weekend. Saturday is rained all.day.long and I had a killer headache and wanted peace. The kids decided instead to created WW3. Holy hell. Sunday I felt better and was interested in getting out and about, but the kids were playing nicely at home and didn't really want to get out of their pjs. And of course rather than doing the stuff that needs to get done, I lazed with them.
E of course came home from daycare early on Friday because she had a fever. She ran a low grade fever all weekend never over 101.8 but she was not feeling well that was for sure. She has a really yucky cough and I ended up giving her a btrayhing treatment last night.
Sat dw ran around in the am trying to get ready for a bachelorette party. I drove her into the city at her hotel. I was pretty bummed out since she was staying at the W and it looked super cool. E and I went home and she took a really long nap. We had take out and I watched bad tv.
Sunday we went in early to pick up S at the hotel walked around a little and then went to brunch at the hotel. We came home and took a family nap. When we got up we took E to the pool for a while and then had dinner.
Very mellow weekend for me a little more exciting for dw.
Friday we went to the fair after work/camp and there was no one around since it was overcast. The kids had a blast having the place to themselves and before I knew it, it was 9pm. We never do that!!
Saturday the kids slept until 8 to make up for their late night. I went to the gym then we met up with friends back at the fair. Had a great afternoon of pony rides, paddle boating, and kettle corn Home for naps/cleaning/cooking. Then our friends rejoined us at our house for a picnic and playing and watching fireworks (we are so lucky to have a perfect view of our town's fireworks from our driveway!!). So much fun but the kids went to bed at 10:30 that night!
(speaking of the public parenting stuff: DW and I had a brief but firm talk during the picnic after she was onto her second helping, sitting, and chatting with friends and I hadnt even gotten a single bite after getting the kids settled, drinks, bathroom breaks, serving friends, ect ect ect. Ugh. They have no idea how good they have it!)
Sunday DW went to work and the kids and I had a lazy morning involving playing outside and a target trip. After naps we met up with my SIL and neice at the splash pad, but the combo of overtired kids and not being hot enough made them not too into the water play. Home for dinner/homemade ice cream/baths/early bed.
Monday morning I got up early and went to the gym. I was hoping to enjoy the rare treat of DW getting the kids all ready but when I got home they were all still in bed. Not thrilled. Somehow we managed to get all fed and ready and off to my grandmother's service on time. Kids behaved really well for it, then we went to lunch with the family. Barely survived that. Then we decided to use passes that were going to expire shortly to check out a new indoor water park. The kids loved it and we had a great time. We purposely stayed until 6 knowing the girls would fall asleep in the car and we just transferred them into their cribs. Got R down and we caught up on the Bachelorette while doing laundry and packing.
