They just said 16 families and 50something people. Yikes.
I am so intrigued. The Amish people (to make generalizations) seem to be guided in all aspects of their lives by what they believe God wants them to do (to be overly simple). The hoots seem to just do things (like dress, work in the colony) because they don't want to get in trouble. To live in a strict closed colony, but to do things like play beer pong, and compete in a jerky competition, and buy ipads, and make bets just seems so incongruent to me.
Case in point: Claudia agreed to take off her scarf to work to make money for an ipad. Scarf wasn't that important then was it. She was more concerned with being caught then by going against a rule of modesty (I think) is based on religion.

They are on tonight at 10. I think it's only 58 in their colony. There are a few other colonies, I remember one of the mothers got mad when her daughter wanted to go on a date with someone from a different colony. DH is saying the guy was a different type of Hutterite, that there are 3 different kinds.
There are three branches of Hutterites; the Schmiedeleut, the Dariusleut and the Lehrerleut. I think Claudia wanted to go out withe a Lehrerleut boy. Oh the horror!
