You need to find out who this inspector works for at the city and vehemently pursue a complaint. As a public official he cannot treat people that way.
I agree.
I would ask for a new inspector to be assigned to your job, and tell his boss why.
I thought the main guy for our kitchen reno was a jerk, but it was more just being a passive aggressive, really picky (didn't mind the pickiness) jackass. I never felt like there was danger of an actual fight. That would definitely not be something that I would let go.
I wouldn't even let him set foot in my house again. I would cancel tomorrows inspection.
I think you are okay with recording it, because it was in your own home and you were concerned about what was happening, especially with your daughter in the house.
By all means, report the inspector, but it takes two to tango and the owner is also at fault for not dealing with this in a professional manner. He should not be getting in heated, threatening arguments in your home since, you know, he's working for you.
anyone know if it's legal for me to record their argument? I'd be more likely to pursue it with the city if I can give them a copy of the recording but of course I don't want to break the law. I plan to record tomorrow's meeting too. He's so demeaning to the workers here.
You're in Maryland, right? In my high school journalism class we were taught that it is illegal in the state of MD to record someone without their consent. I don't know if anything's changed, but we were always supposed to make the recorder visible and record the person audibly consenting to being recorded.
