I'm hoping you can see this. Chasing dd around with the iPad was comical. Anyway, kid has a little red rash around her nose and chin. It's slightly raised and there seems to be dry skin around the base of her nose. The rash comes and goes and has been there for over a month. Nothing I put on it seems to make much difference. I've even tried hydrocortisone cream and some fancy yeast rash stuff. Any guesses?
Looks like eczema to me. DS got it when he was allergic to milk as a baby buy now he's 2.75 and gets it from being outside. He's allergic to something.
Yikes. I have no idea how I'll do that. She eats a huge variety and I've never noticed a day when it gets much worse than any other. It's just always kind of there. Sometime more on her chin, sometimes more under her nose.
She's also perpetually cutting teeth. Her first molar came in last week and more are on the way...
I liked the "ask dr sears" answer better. He said it was nothing
Is this pedi worthy or are we okay until her well check in 3 wks?
Well check is fine. I probably stop the WCM since it seems to correlate w that? It should clear up fairly fast if that's the culprit. Other than that I wouldn't do anything til you discuss it w your pedi later.
Q totally has the exact same thing!! so 11 month old rash?
. Oh good. This is the dr sears I was referencing.
Facial rashes – virtually all infants and young children will get a rash around the mouth and cheeks at some point during their childhood. It usually appears as flat patches, or slightly raised patches, with tiny red bumps scattered around the mouth and chin. This type of rash can be cause by drooling, pacifiers, allowing smeared food to remain too long on the face, or rubbing face against parent's clothes. This rash will often remain for weeks at a time. Just when it seems to finally clear up, something irritates it again and it returns for another few weeks. In time, this will clear up for good, and no treatment is really necessary. If its appearance bothers you, you can try applying Aquaphor healing ointment, lanolin ointment (used for sore nipples during breastfeeding), or hydrocortisone 1% cream twice a day until clear. But be warned, it will probably come back.
I just want to make sure that I'm not missing something huge. It showed up right after her 9 mo check.
My kid gets a similar rash around his mouth. He has had if off and on for a few years. The doctor said it was just bacteria causing it. Like not getting all the food off, drool, licking will keep it around. She said to use aquaphor every night. It helps then eventually (often 9 months later it comes back). Not a big deal really.

L has a horrible rash on her chin, upper lip right now. She finally cut a tooth. I am blaming that. I use vaseline to cover it. It normally works because it creates a barier. Dont use hydrocortisone cream on her face if she isnt bithered by it.
