We have a diono radian and just bought a safety 1st complete air 65 about 20 minutes ago. I like the radian but I wanted something more " plush" for longer car rides. It sucks that at 8.5 months DS is too tall for his infant seat.
I also had a horrible experience with the Cosco Scenara.
I got one in a rental car and it was absolutely awful. Where the harness anchors into the base is awkward and makes it cut into the baby's legs. It also is hard and apparently uncomfortable because DS never complains about his carseat and he hated this thing for the 3 days we used it.

I've had two Triumphs for 2 yrs and really like them. Positives: very comfortable, high weight limit. Negatives: nob is hard to reach rear facing and it is a very wide seat. Butit is a great price for such a high weight limit seat.
Honestly, I wouldn't bring a carseat on a plane. Get the CARES harness instead. As wild as my child is, he is still a lap child and has slept through 11/12 flights he's been on so far. I will let you know how next week's flights go though. Lol.
The triumph is a good seat, DS rides in one. Nice and cushy. I like the knob tightener - some people don't.
We own an embarrassing number of car seats (like, um 8. For 2 kids riding in 3 cars. And we're about to buy another one) Two of them are Sceneras. It is not an easy install, this is true. And it's nota seat I'd choose for a 3hour road trip because it's not very padded. But for short rides to daycare or playdates, it's absolutely fine and it's a safe seat. And for small cars it's great.
What seat is best also really depends on the vehicle you're putting it in. I love our radian, but it won't easily go RFing in our PT cruiser, but works well in our Sienna. The scenera works well in a toyota tundra but not in the giant random american rental car my mom rented. And the Triumph will not fit in the tundra FFing or RFing unless I chop of DD's legs.
It's about the shape of the back seat, how deep it is, how it's contoured, and how the seat belt stalks are designed.

We got the Cosco Scenera for the grandparent's cars as they're cheap and were recommended by consumer reports. The install was a little tricky, but once we got the hang of it, we're pretty happy with the seat. I agree that it wouldn't be a long road-trip type seat but for what we're using it for, it works well.
