Where are your favorite vacation spots with kids and your favorite time(s) of the year to go to them? Are you a camping family? A hotels family? A visiting relatives/staying with friends family? Something else?
I LOVE going to the beach in the fall. When it's really quiet and most of the time you want a jacket. We've been to Depoe Bay, and probably will check out some other places in the next few years. In New England before kids, we also loved either ski vacations or summer hiking/biking trips to the mountains. I need some material to day dream about while I'm procrastinating from my last few days of work .
I like ocean shores or long beach during the off season because there aren't many people there and we like to fly our stunt kites without worrying about other people. We go to my uncle's property pretty much every long weekend, thanksgiving, and a week or two in the summer. It's on Lake Roosevelt and I love it no matter the season. In the winter we have huge bonfires and play in the snow. In the summer we spend so much time in the water.
We like to camp so we can include Elsa but might invest in a little tent trailer to make it easier.
we're a little bit of everything. we love traveling "just cause", but we also have obligatory family-travel. we've only gone camping with kids twice, but we used to be big campers.
for "just-cause" traveling, we try to go during off-season, when school is going on, especially right now while we CAN. you get better rates for everything--flight, hotel, attractions.. we went to NOLA the week before mardi gras, so the whole city was in the spirit, but it wasn't expensive quite yet.
when we did an alaska cruise, we did it the last open week..school was already in session, so there were not many kids, and it was less expensive.
when we visit family (california), it's usually the more expensive season...summer and/or christmas.

We want to be a camping family but we've never actually gotten around to camping! Maybe once Baby Rogo is here, we'll be more motivated to do that.
Our big family trip every year is the California State Fair, which we couldn't do last year because of my work schedule, and this year because I was hugely pregnant. But we're definitely going next year
*sigh* We used to vacation a LOT. Then we inherited the family business. No time, no money, no vacation. We go to the OR coast as a family to escape the rest of the family for a week over Christmas. That's a given. We've been to Florida to visit my aunt and uncle (March last year), we've driven to MT to visit friends and we go to Portland for work related events semi-regularly. I wouldn't call those vacations though. I am booking a trip to HI for this Sept as a surprise for our 5th wedding anniversary. Come hell or high water. We'll just close the business for a week, I've got child care lined up and the 2 of us are going to relax G*ddamn it! LOL
I've also got a savings account with automatic deposits for a 6 week trip to Europe for our 10th anniversary. I'm hoping to start making more time for actual real live vacations - I miss taking them!!
when?? where?? we will be on oahu for one week in september also! our friend is getting married ON our 5th anniversary..so it was a forced 5yr anniv trip, but we'll take it
Usually somewhere warm for a week between February and April. We usually do something in the summer. Like a beach or camping trip.
We are going to Seabrook on the WA coast for a week this summer. Next spring we are planning Disney. Next summer we have a Maryland wedding. Then maybe Hawaii for spring 2016
