I had my A/S today at a maternal fetal medicine doctor. I have a history of pregnancy loss and was diagnosed with Factor V Leiden and Protein S Deficiency, which is why my OB wanted me to meet with a specialist.
Everything went pretty well, except she did find a little abnormality with the heart. She said that the wall between the ventricles was allowing a little blood flow between each of them, when the wall shouldn't allow that. She did say that at the gestational age I'm at, that is something they do see often and that it should take care of itself by the wall strenghtening. I'm going back in a month to have it looked at again. She also said that if I wasn't at a specialist who was using advanced equipment, it probably never would have been caught. Makes me feel a little better, but I can't help but worry.
But everything else looked good, and our baby let us know within the first 10 seconds that we are having a little boy! Now to start the name debate with H!

Let the name debate begin! Congrats and my thoughts are with you that everything works out fine with the heart. Sometimes, I think the machines are too sensitive. At my A/S, they told me her brain was enlarged and it could mean xyzabc problem. Luckily, I had amnio so that completely ruled it out. But again, the technology is too much sometimes.
Try not to worry. It often does close up on its own before birth, and sometimes even shortly after if it's a tiny hole. I was born with 5 holes between my upper chambers (your baby has it between the lower) and am a pretty healthy adult, who is now pregnant nonetheless!
So even if it doesn't resolve, your baby should be just fine once they fix up that hole. Sometimes the holes are so small they don't even need to fix it (just monitor), or can fix it through a micro incision in an artery in the groin and thread this tiny patch up into the heart. It's a more common procedure than many probably would guess.
Deep breaths. This will all fall into place. I bet your baby will be just fine!

Thank you, this makes me feel better. The dr did mention the difference between a hole in the upper and lower chambers and like you said it was in the lower. Thanks for your reassurance!
