How did you approach this?

So I get out of the restroom, and, despite all his wonderful toys, I have discovered him playing with the dog bone. When I take it away from him, he throws a little fit. I said, " not yours," and left it at that.

Is there something else I should do? I can't believe he's old enough to do this!

When Z gets into something that he shouldn't, I say name and then I tell him that he doesn't want to play with that and then I go get him and take him back to his toys. When I say his name he looks at me like he knows he is doing something that he shouldn't. He doesn't throw a fit or anything at this point, but will often try to go find something else he shouldn't.

I don't think that what you are doing is wrong.

I would redirect him to his toys. I have the opposite problem, like Arnie chewing on J's toys. Grr.

I have this problem too! And D likes to give the dogs his toys and laugh.

My kid is OBSESSED with the dog's bone. We just take it away over and over and over. The dog always brings it back to DS so it's a lost cause.

We just say "that is Jackson's toy" (our dog) - "lets put it in the dog toy box" and we put it back and then go find a toy for DS. 

I don't leave any "high value" toys (such as a rawhide or dog bone) out where DS can get them though, and when the dog does get one its only when DS is sleeping. 

It only has happened once or twice where he has taken a dog toy for his own (likewise the dogs leave his toys alone, which I didnt really expect) - and now that he can actually play with the dogs, when he gets a dog toy its more to throw it for our dog to retrieve or something.

This is exactly what we do too. "DS, that is (dog's name) toy. Let's put it back in her basket. Here, this fire truck is yours."

I pickup dog toys before I leave DS in a room to go to the bathroom or swap out laundry or whatever.

We try not to leave the dog toys/kong out but when they are DS zones in on it with some super hero like vision. (Or feverishly tries to wrangle the kong out from the crate)

I take a similar approach of removing the toy (usually washing hands) and telling him its dog toy, not his to play with. And just ignore the little fits, ain't nobody got time for that

Oh neither do I, but I can't see him from it.

And the dog is the one bringing D his toys, it's like some inside game they play just to irritate Us, lol!
