DD is almost 8 months, and half the time I think she is just responding to my voice, not the name. About six weeks ago we did an experiment where I called her Princess Beyonce - she still looked up.
I can't tell if he actually is responding to his name or just me talking to him. And sometimes he ignores me altogether no matter what I say or call him. I does seem like he's been more receptive to his silly nicknames, so I started trying to use his name more!
DS is about the same age as your dc, & his response is spotty. Honestly he is just really good at ignoring everything around him when he needs to to concentrate on a task
I have no idea. I was going to guess a year, but based on these responses I think it must have been earlier. DD is delayed in speech, but not in understanding - so whatever it was it was on time. I do think it was after 6 months. I would bring it up at her 9 month appt if you're concerned. There's such a huge range for development, I can't imagine that that alone is going to be concerning.
I wouldn't worry. She might just be tuning you out
Yeah, sometimes I get the sense that she's just like, "Whatever, Mommy, I'm busy!" She doesn't look at me half the time when I talk to her because she is exploring other things. She definitely has selective hearing.
