DH and I are going to be in the area this weekend for a wedding and will be staying in Jackson, NH which looks like it's pretty close to North Conway and Mt. Washington.
We will be free during the day on Friday and Saturday, so I'm trying to brainstorm places to go for lunch or other things to do. I've been to North Conway years ago as I went to summer camp in the area, but have never been to the top of Mt. Washington (and neither has DH) so think we will do at least that.
Any recs for other things to do or places to go for lunch while we are there? If all else fails, we can just hit up the outlets!
playing minigolf, rafting, riding the scenic train, hiking. a little further out (driving toward the lakes region) is a fun adventure course called monkey trunks. i'll keep thing...
The Cog Railway up Mt Washington! I mean, what more could you want then a TRAIN that climbs a mountain?!
Where are you staying? I love the Snowflake Inn and also the Wentworth in Jackson.
I think there is a Flatbread company (good for lunch) in North Conway. You might have been to the one in Davis SQuare and they have one in PVD, too.
We're staying at Whitneys Inn which is where all the wedding stuff will be. Looks a bit rustic but should be nice and relaxing. They are renting out the whole Inn for the wedding weekend.
LOL, how did I know you would recommend the train?!
There is a new breakfast place as you approach the turn for 302/16 by the Irving and I can't remember the name of it. DH will remember I will have to ask him - we were just there a few weeks ago - breakfast was amazing.

Ugh the train is three hours. And not very comfortable. But if you still want to do it there is a one hour version that goes into Conway if you just want to ride an old train.
Not to get in a debate about what is all basically family-friendly food but I think Moat mountain is much better than Delaney's, horsefeathers, scarecrow. It's sort of tough eats in the valley especially in the summer because you're going to be surrounded by people with kids. We like Tuckermans Tavern too but that's more because of the beer than the food. Bellini's used to be a hot place to go, it's Italian, but probably not the best Meal of your life. The Mexican place also at the 302/16 traffic light is also pretty good.

This is the Sunrise Shack. It's pretty good. A little different from the "standard" breakfast. There is also a breakfast restaurant across from the Snowflake Inn in Jackson that is very good, but I can't remember the name.
I LOVE the Moat Mountain Brewery. It's my favorite place in the area.
Ice cream at Trails End by Attitash on 302.
Not sure if you're up for hiking these days, but a few short but good hikes in the area: Mt. Willard Arethusa Falls Diana's Bath
We ended up doing lunch at Moat Mountain Smokehouse & Brewery on Friday afternoon. The Saturday we drove up the Mt. Washington auto road which was a lot of fun. We got there just early enough to miss some traffic. Then we had lunch at the Muddy Moose afterwords. Then had brunch this morning at the Blueberry Muffin.
The wedding was a ton of fun and we really enjoyed the Inn, it was so nice and quiet. A well needed weekend away for us!
