I know we've covered rx/OTC treatments, but does anyone treat their migraines with more natural remedies? I don't get them often, but when I do, I'm utterly worthless during and a good day or so after. I'm trying to stay away from most medications (celiac, gut healing protocol), but I just can't get through a migraine without something.
I have been taking magnesium supplements daily, which has helped to reduce their frequency. Also, head massage helps - use your thumbs to press into the bumps on your occipital bone (near your ears) and press hard and lift up.
That said, if I feel a migraine coming on and can take 2 excedrin migraine, that works better than anything else. I am pregnant right now and miserable and vomiting all day if I do get one.

I've been getting acupuncture and it has really helped my migraines. I started out going every week but am now down to once a month. If I feel a migraine coming on, I can usually call and get in for a treatment. A few times it has cured the migraine and once it just made it less severe.
I also take a magnesium supplement. I buy it at Costco or on Amazon. I'm not brand loyal.

I do ice to the forehead and neck, blanket over lower body, coffee and my pain pill. That usually gets me back on my feet. Once in awhile nothing works and I'm just down for the count.
I've, in the past few months, began a magnesium supplement. I was told to get powdered form to stir into water because it is used better by the body than the pill form. It's called natural calm I think. Organic lemon raspberry. It's actually tasty.
Be careful, I can't take it every night though because it also helps with stool loosening so be careful and start with small amount.
