I'm mostly a lurker, but I have a question. I've noticed a lot of new games are coming out for PC that aren't coming out any time soon for Mac (Sims 4, Rollercoaster Tycoon: World, etc.). Since I have a Mac, I've been contemplating buying a simple PC just for computer games. I don't know much about PC since I've had my Mac forever, so I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions for a cheaper PC (I don't want to break the bank buying one) but it needs to have a pretty good video/graphics card to run the games.
What is your budget? Newegg.com has a nice selection of PCs in various price ranges. For decent graphics, I recommend a machine with an i7 processor, lots of RAM (8GB minimum), and a decent graphics card. In March I bought my husband a new Asus PC for gaming, and he's satisfied with the speed. It can run new-release games on high settings. The graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760. It's not top-of-the-line but certainly good enough for us. If you don't plan to use high settings, a simpler model would work. Besides Asus, I've heard good things about Dell and Lenovo PCs.
I currently use an HP Pavilion g7 laptop that is 3 years old, and it can play newer games on low-medium settings but with a lot of lag. I would recommend a computer with a better graphics card than a basic PC if you need it specifically for gaming.
