One of my favorite things I have done while working with a dog rescue was "Mutt Art". In the city where our rescue was based, we had this great downtown street art fair the first Friday of the month. I planned and organized getting a booth together for our organization, and since it was an art fair. We sold “Mutt Art”…We had our rescue dogs paint a canvas (basically let the run wild with some paint, lol). Then I wrote up a little “artist bio” and we sold them. The supplies were pretty cheap, so all proceeds went to the rescue. We also gave a discounted adoption fee if you bought that pups artwork.
It was really successful. Over the course of a summer (4 first Fridays) we sold over $1,000 of art. Pieces ranged from $5 - $100. And they really fun (cleaning the dogs up is another matter). They kind of had the personality of each dog. Oso, who was kind of lazy and cuddly had a giant butt print since he decided to sit down. Jasper was this crazy little chi mix full of energy and his painting showed it.
Anyways…point of this story…one of your questions was about supporting an organization through buying stuff…and this was by far the most successful fund raising campaign we did. And we didn’t have your stellar photographing skills to showcase the pets and the art. I don’t know if this is even feasible for your organization, but it could be fun!
