The 74-year-old actor became famous during his appearances on "All in the Family."
The spin-off, "The Jeffersons" was a monster hit. He also starred in the TV show, "Amen." He was also a professional singer and even released the single in 1989, "Ain't that A Kick in the Head."
The Jeffersons was my favorite show growing up. So sad. I am sad he had no wife or children.
Why? I know plenty of people who are very happy to not have a wife or children.
We are NOT going to do this up in this thread. Ya'll will not start a Child Free By Choice debate on George Jefferson. Start a spin-off. Please and Thank You.

Kind of like how The Jeffersons was a spin-off of All in the Family?

Fun Factoid of the Day - My aunt, uncle and cousins live across the street from the building featured in the opening credits of The Jeffersons. Sadly, we never actually saw Sherman Hemsley walking around...and now we never will. :-(
Full House, Step by Step, Family Matters, and some other stupid show? Amazing.
PERFECT STRANGERS IS NOT A STUPID SHOW! Take it back!
Just The 10 of Us was also on TGIF.
Dude--Perfect Strangers was on Wednesdays, not Fridays (at least for some of the time). I own Perfect Strangers DVDs. I am not some sort of philistine.
I'm pretty sure Just the 10 of Us is what I was referring to.
Aw, this makes me sad. I adored The Jeffersons and watching it was one of the first really rebellious-type things that I did as a kid. (My dad wouldn't let us watch it, but that's a whole 'nother story.)

Anecdote--I had a friend in kindergarten who lived in that very building of the "deluxe apartment in the sky". I thought it was so cool that I finally got to go into that weird circular building.
I remember watching the Jeffersons, but most of it was completely over my head. Also, I loooved Just the 10 of us. So glad they don't play reruns so I don't have to see how stupid I must have been, lol.

I would like to hear this story.
oh, I should have said that it's not that interesting of a story. my dad was pretty racist and we weren't allowed to watch "black" tv shows. He was particularly adamant about The Jeffersons--I think it was a triple threat for him because it was mostly black people, the main character was a rich black man and there was an interracial couple. *gasp*
Fortunately, after my parents divorced my mom let us watch whatever we want.
