Anyone here using AAC for their non-verbal children?
DD (aka Petite Fleur/PF) uses some baby signs, has some words and a decent amount of approximation in her babbling. We're working towards getting her to use Speak For Yourself. Right now I do some minimal modeling (because I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly) and let her explore the app in the "babble" function.
Definitely, definitely search of a good evaluator for AAC that knows many different systems. And have a good SLP that help you learn along with PF! There are so many out there, with different strengths and weaknesses. One of the biggest obstacles has been access to apps-they aren't for every child, and not everyone is skilled in eliciting communication (and I mean that even with SLPs!)
If you'd like some help in finding someone, let me know!
