I'm going to see a pulmonary sleep specialist tomorrow. I'll likely be scheduling a sleep study within the next couple weeks to try to get a CPAP and whatnot. I've had two studies before (dx with moderate sleep apnea) but my insurance only covered the test and not the machine so I'm going through the entire process finally.
So. Does anyone have experience with the CPAP? Yourself or your partner, did it improve quality of sleep and things like energy through the day? My biggest fear is it won't help and I'll have to spend the rest of my life exhausted... but I'm looking forward to giving it a try!

Not trying to hi-jack your thread, but what were your studies like? I'm going to be scheduling one soon to see if there's a reason I can't sleep well, so I'd love to hear about your experience. Sorry I'm no help with your questions!

The ones I've done have been in a sleep lab. They put bands around your chest, EKG patches on, place small electrodes in various places to monitor brain activity and such. They have you sleep for a seven or eight hour period, and they process all the results from that time... they're easy, minus falling asleep with all that stuff on.
My doctor is having me do an at home test this time, and if it's inconclusive I'll go into the sleep lab again. It's definitely weird, but it wasn't too bad.
My husband uses a cpap and it has saved his life and our marriage. Seriously, I was plotting how to kill him.
Well, maybe not. But it has helped us both sleep better. He felt better right away. There's tons of types of masks, so if the first isn't comfortable, keep trying until you can find one that works for you.
THIS! Word for word.
Since he got the CPAP... probably almost a year ago, I've actually been able to sleep all night too. I would end up on the couch probably 5 nights out of 7 before.
My H did an at home test. Find out if that exists! You have to use fresh sheets (if you have animals) and sleep alone for the night
That's what I'm trying first! I'm pretty excited, because it sounds like it will be easier to sleep then in the Sleep Lab. Just waiting for a call to get it scheduled.
