Sorry I don't buy it. She could easily xfer nits to a sofa, a toy anything. And there is a reason you treat lice then treat it again 8 days later. Because they have an 8 day gestation period. so maybe you think there are only a few nits adn they look dead there are probably a lot more. Papie, I really like you, but as someone who dealt wtih lice so much when dd was in Kindergarten, I just can't do anything but side eye you and I will say that if I knew the mom that kept having her licey kid around I wouldn't like her much. Hope this doesn't end your friendship gotta go .. Need to shower and scratch the shit out of my head.

I guess it is true what they say, you can't be both common sense smart and book smart. For someone who just completed her PhD it seems like and awfully dumb move to do this. Well and incredibly selfish.
Well... I'd be really mad if someone did this and my daughter got lice.
But I do have to say, you did ask her and warn her, so I guess ultimately it's her own fault if she said yes and her children get lice. It's not like you took them there and didn't tell anyone.

What about the chiro's ofc. The receptionist who was watching her kids for her and the patients who come in after her?
I do wonder if the other mom is breezy, "they are just nits!", or if she is stewing into a frenzy and ready to lay into you when you go back to pick up your kid.
I picture the mom making the kids play in an empty field while she blasts them with a fire hose until you get back. Lol.
I have to be honest, this is past flammable. You seem like a normally smart and reasonable person, are you okay? I mean, seriously, because this is not something a rational person with a logical thought process would do.
This. 100%. The only way I could picture someone doing something like this was if they were at the end of their rope and not thinking clearly.

I'll speak for all doormats everywhere: some people CAN'T say no and can't deal with confrontation. Sorry papie this was a super shitty thing to do.

The other mom is on a message board somewhere saying "You are not going to believe this! A mom dropped her licey kid at my house for a playdate!" and everyone is all "Oh, fuck no."
Right, but if your daughter sits down on a couch, or the kids put their heads together while playing, or the receptionist touches her head to your baby's... transmission.
Well, it says head-to-head is the most common, but it can happen other ways:
"Head-to-head contact with an already infested person is the most common way to get head lice. Head-to-head contact is common during play at school, at home, and elsewhere (sports activities, playground, slumber parties, camp).
Although uncommon, head lice can be spread by sharing clothing or belongings. This happens when lice crawl, or nits attached to shed hair hatch, and get on the shared clothing or belongings. Examples include:
sharing clothing (hats, scarves, coats, sports uniforms) or articles (hair ribbons, barrettes, combs, brushes, towels, stuffed animals) recently worn or used by an infested person; or lying on a bed, couch, pillow, or carpet that has recently been in contact with an infested person."
Edit: I would just think it would be better to be safe than sorry. Especially since it seems like a real hassle to get rid of.
If your kid's hair (with nits) sheds on the receptionist's chair - they could hatch and give her lice.

****
So unless the playdate solely involves this...
...my guess is that there's going to be some shared belongings along the way.
And no, I am not doing well, but this is beyond the point, is it?
I will pay the lice fairy if they catch it. Omg. I don't know what I was thinking. But the hats and headband and awareness and buns should prevent this, no???
I am leaving to pick her up now. I am sure they played outside too the while time.
But FFS we did not contaminate the chiro's office! Our hair is tied up and the baby doesn't have any.

Little girls never remove these things?
Papie, I hope you get the help you need soon to get yourself back together. I can see you are struggling. Hope things level out soon.

Really though, it's not the end of the world. It's just an inconvenience. Please don't leave. I hope you feel better soon. ((Hugs))

I had a "friend" that used to work for me. She got a call from DC one day and left to get her daughter. She returned telling me she was sick, we had the same DC provider so she should have know that I would find out it was LICE! She brought her daughter here and let her lay on my couch all day!! When I found out that night, I had to spend a fortune to treat/wash everything she had contact with. I was furious and our friendship was never the same, I had to let her go a few months later when I found out she had hid a work problem that cost me a lot of money. She was also going through a very rough time with family problems, but that was still crazy. Moral of the story, I think you just wanted a break, but think of the other family first next time!
