Please tell me good cheaperish places to eat and things that cannot be missed. We're staying by the downtown and lower Nob Hill area.
I missed getting tickets to Alcatraz at night because our friends took too long to get back to us I also am not able to go to the night event at the California Academy of Science because they are doing it on the one night that I have plans.
As far as less expensive eats, I loved picking my way through the Ferry Building at lunch time. So much good food! My 2 favorite restaurants were Boulevard and Sons & Daughters.
I loved everything I had at cowgirl creamery (mac n cheese, veggie sandwich and burrata), Gotts burgers were good (I was super hungover though so I might not be the best judge), Miette and some random place were I bought a pot pie. I didn't do anything "fun" - just meetings and eat. But I didn't have any bad food
there is a mexican restaurant in the Ferry Building we enjoyed, Mijitas. Excellent tacos.
also amazing cheese at Cowgirl Creamery. We got cheese and bread and fruit at the Ferry Building and at that for one meal. Midnight Moon is my fave cheese ever.
So happy that SF is getting so many visitors lately.
What do you like to do?
Eat and drink lol I like museums and local culture. I'm pretty open actually. This is the first vacation in a while that hasn't been jammed packed full of stuff that "has" to be done or seen.

Got to the Asian Art Museum. After you are done, eat at Ananda Fuara (bring cash--cash only): anandafuara.com
It's been years since I've been there, but the Irish Bank was a good cheap-ish place I'd hit up for lunch occasionally. I loved their fish & chips with a side of curry sauce.
Get a gingerbread cupcake from Miette at the Ferry Building.
You've seen all of my blog posts, so I won't repeat them.
I can't remember if I told you about my most recent eats. I had an absolutely fabulous brunch at SPQR. It wasn't brunch in the traditional sense, but you get three pastas for $28. We sat on the sidewalk and had a glorious time eating delicious food and watching people and dogs walk by. Right across the street is a place called Fraiche, which sells frozen Greek yogurt. Absolutely dreamy and the the perfect cap to the meal. It's generally a fun neighborhood for a leisurely stroll. There's a Jonathan Adler store and Marc Jacobs store, stuff like that.
We also tried Sweet Woodruff, which is the sandwich shop run by the guys behind Sons & Daughters. We shared a spinach and apple salad, suckling pig sandwich, and the gnocchi of the day. Affordable and fabulous.
I haven't done this yet (but I've been meaning to do this for the longest time), but Delfina Pizzeria, Tartine, and Bi-Rite Creamery are all within steps of each other. I've always wanted to eat a pizza, pastry, and ice cream from those places.

Ohh !! Well, should hang out! HaðŸ˜
OSHA thai ( as well as king of Thai noodle mentioned above) are both good. I mentioned a bunch in a post last week but off the top of my head, for "cheap" here is some thoughts.
Pier 23 is fun for bar food/ happy hour.
Park and beach chalet,
park chow ( not Chinese food)
Beretta,
straw.
Check out Golden Gate Park even if you can't get to nightlife, try academy of science during the day.
We're probably not going, though ... it was more money than we want to spend, plus I may be getting a new job soon so I can't take a week off right away. Now we're looking into a weekend trip somewhere, maybe Florida.
If want to venture out to Berkeley, Chez Panisse was awesome and relatively MM since we went super early to the cafe (not the main restaurant). It was our fault for not booking ahead of time but we were still able to enjoy the yummy food at a lower price.
We walked around Ferry Building a lot and picked up good eats.
We did venture to the tourist trap of Fisherman's Wharf but had a blast. Just walk around and check out the scenery. I loved the clam chowder I found there.
Go get ice cream at the Ghirardelli factory, you'll thank me later :-)
Chinatown was cool to walk around in, but we didn't have time to grab something to eat there. Starlily mentioned a place we meant to go to but I can't find the name anymore.
If you're going to venture out to the Mission, you should try a mission-style burrito since I don't think you have anything similar out there. La Taqueria & Pancho Villa are both good.
