Okay, lately I have seen a ton of people texting and driving. Typically I am looking over at them as I pass them because they were driving so slowly or badly and I see they are texting. This is a dangerous activity to do whilst driving. I can't stress this enough. Texting and driving ends lives.
Is there a number I can ring to call these people in, if I have their licenses plate number?
Anyone know if there is anything I can do to report them? I feel very strongly about this.

It is illegal in my state. I didn't drive on the highway more than a few times a year for about 6 years. I was stunned when I started driving on the highway again regularly at how bad the texting and driving problem is, even though it is illegal. People just drift into you I have seen some people drift across 3 lanes in heavy traffic texting. Fortunately the other people on the road gave that moron wide berth.
It's semi-legal where I live.... It's illegal to text while driving, but it's legal to text at a stop light, stop sign, or when the vehicle is stopped. I personally think the rule sucks. You can just as easily be stopped at a light texting, get distracted and roll into the person in front of you.
Eta- and you can't get pulled over for it. It's a secondary violation, you must be pulled over for something else.
It's illegal here. I have the non-emergency police number for my county programmed into my phone. I call it anytime I encounter a distracted or drunk driver. I've called for several people.
Have you tried calling the non emergency police number? I call them all the time to report weaving cars or nonfunctioning traffic lights or dogs left in cars, etc. Sometimes the dispatcher asks me to hang up and call 911. Sometimes they just thank me and say they'll send someone to check it out. See what they say about texting drivers.
I've noticed the same thing, and it's infuriating. It's also illegal where I am. I guess you could call the non-emergency police number with a license plate, but I don't know how far that would get you.
It's so frustrating. I've stopped taking the highway to work because I would get so irate at the morons either holding up traffic because they're driving too slow while texting or drifting into other lanes. Not saying it's much better on the surface streets, but my stress level seems to be much lower.
My wish is that I had a bull horn setting on my steering wheel blue tooth controls so that I could push a button and say "put down the phone & drive" in a loud, annoying voice as I drive past these people.
