DD2 will be 10 months in 8 days (ETA: And she has no teeth!)
Breakfast: Waffles/Pancakes and some kind of fruit. 3 mini pancakes/waffles and then a handful of fruit Snack: Puffs or mum mums Lunch: She probably gets 3-4 times a week. Usually some sort of fruit and mini meatballs etc (couple handfuls total of everything) Snack: Pouch or something like Happy baby rice milk melts, yogurt melts or if she didn't have a lunch then she gets fruit and some veggies. Dinner: I try to give her what we are eating, but if not I give her something like mini meatballs, grilled chicken, etc and then steamed veggies. last night she had grilled cheese. Usually its a couple handfuls of food.
Neither one of my kids had teeth at ten months old. I don't remember how much or what they ate but I never let their lack of teeth stop me from feeding them solids. Even once they get their front teeth it's not like they chew with those teeth exclusively, they will still just gum everything.

Wow! I think I'm really unfeeding D. He doesn't eat anywhere near this much food. I'm super paranoid about choking, I think. How do I get over this?

DD1's formula intake has decreased from 32 to 24ish so that's why I try to make sure she has enough regular food. She just isn't as interested in 8 oz bottles anymore and I don't want to keep adding in smaller bottles.
Is he gagging really bad on real food? I'd just go for it with more regular food/meals and see what he does. I will say I rip/cut everything into smaller pieces. I know BLW says big chunks that they can hold, but smaller pieces that they can use their fingers to pinch and pick up have always worked better for my kids.
Gagging is totally normal though, but I understand it can be scary!
Oh I also wanted to mention that even if your son did have teeth at this age, they likely wouldn't be the molars which are the ones used for chewing. so all he's missing now are the teeth used to take the initial bite. Chewing for him will be exactly the same as it was for my son who had 6 teeth at that age.

Same here. DD didn't get a tooth until 11 months and she could eat all kinds of things. They can do a lot with their gums.

I either gave really small pieces (like cut up) or a big piece (like 1/4 of a sandwich) that she could gnaw on. We never had any choking.

Not a lot. I'm not sure how to quantify it exactly, but he was pretty picky (eating only colourless and dry foods like yogurt and crackers) and I'd say most of his calories came from breast milk still.

I know this isn't what you asked, but my dd is about 10 months, has 8 teeth, and is a very poor eater. She still gags on most solids, but refuses to be spoon fed. The only thing her teeth do is allow her to break off giant pieces that she then can't chew or swallow (as PP mentioned). I've been giving her tiny pieces of stuff at mealtime, but she usually only has a couple of bites of anything. She still nurses all the time and I make sure what I offer is healthy, but mostly I'm just telling myself not to stress and she will eat eventually.
My dd is 10 months but has four teeth with four more coming in. Boo to teething. I'll share anyway.
She is nursing about 5/6 times.
Breakfast: waffles or pancakes or oatmeal and fruit Snacks: yogurt melts, fruit crisp, baby rice cakes or mum mums Lunch: yogurt, sometimes veggies or fruit and a little of what I'm eating Dinner: varies but usually a variation of what we are eating. Her favorite is chicken and pasta or rice.
Can I butt in here? When did y'all start feeding your babies this much food? auberge and ilikedonuts
DD is 7.5 mo and is still only eating an ounce or two of puree a day. Mostly every day, sometimes I skip due to laziness. When do I need to be increasing this? I feel dumb about food.
This is slightly off-topic, but how much milk/formula are your kids taking at 10 months? Had it started decreasing much? When you feed them things like waffles, do you let them self feed or do you hand them tiny chunks one by one? I seem to be clueless about increasing solids.
My kid is 9.5 months old and has 1.5 teeth. Since about 9 months we have just fed him whatever we are eating for dinner. Pasta, sandwiches, sweet corn, etc. Since we stopped purees I worry about vegetable intake, but I try to give him as many veggies as possible. We just tear the food into bit size pieces and put them on his tray. He seems to do okay with that, when he wants to anyway.
My tootless 10 month old is not really into food, plus he has a super sensitive gag reflex. We try to give him at least a little of whatever we're having, but he's not a huge solids eater. Right now we do Greek yogurt for breakfast (he'll eat a couple of oz usually) with a handful of Cheerios. Lunch is a pouch (sometimes he'll only eat 1/2) with some puffs. Dinner is a pouch or other purée + whatever we're having. His gagging/barfing has improved over the last month or so, so I'm hoping he can handle more textures soon. He's a pretty large kid (21ish lbs, 30ish inches) so I'm not stressed about him not eating enough. I figure he'll eat when he's hungry!

D still eats the same amount of BM that he has for the last couple of months.

Do you feed him the entire Cheerio, or do you cut it in half?I'm seriously scared D will get it caught in his throat.
If I cut things into pieces, how small should they be?

My dd was the same at that age. I just started slowly giving her small chunks of fruit and eventually she just started eating more. I would start giving her little bits here and there when you feed her the purées.
She is basically done with purées now (refuses them)and wants to feed herself. She nearly bite my finger off when I gave her chicken for the first time.

E is still drinking the same amount of formula, too.
I wanted to add I think some babies are just more sensitive to gagging and coughing because my dd rarely does. I just give her small chunks and she doesn't have any problems.

My kid loves those multi grain Cheerios. I give them to her whole.

We give him whole Cheerios - they're super dissolvable. Once he was good with puffs we moved to Cheerios because I'm cheap. We give him big pieces of whatever we're eating to gum on. If he happens to gnaw off a too-big piece he typically spits it out.

Not sure because I bf. But I cut everything into bite sized pieces and put a few down on her tray at a time.
DD got her first tooth at 11.5 months. Even now at 13.5 months she just cut her second bottom tooth.
She's been eatin regular foods since 9 ish months. I still cut things into small pieces but I'm working on making them bigger.
She eats waffles or oatmeal for breakfast. With raspberries or blueberries. I halve the blueberries.
She eats a lot of turkey sandwiches, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, meatballs, cheese quesadillas, or hummus on toast for lunch with pieces of avocado, cantelope, watermelon, etc.
She eats a lot of Cheerios. She just gums everything. Those gums are hard!!

My youngest had little interest in purees. I went to one real meal (dinner) a day along with her snack around 8 months. Added breakfast in around 9 months along with another snack. Then the 3rd meal is still only 3-4 days a week and I'm not in any rush to make it a full real meal. like today we were out and I gave her a ton of puffs and some chicken from my wrap as her "lunch" not a true meal, but it made her happy while all the other kids were eating

Does she eat it all enthusiastically? I pretty much just offered more when ds seemed like he'd keep eating if I offered. He never really asked to eat, or for more, so it was just a guessing game.
She eats it well, but seems to get bored of it fast. She just seems distracted towards the end and I'm having to remind her that we're supposed to be eating. I usually have 1 ice cube size portion that I thaw, and maybe a little oatmeal mixed in. She doesn't seem desperate for more, so I never pushed it. However I sent food with her to daycare for the first time on Wednesday, and they told me to send more in because she was upset when it was gone. I either don't know how to read my own kid, or she just behaves differently for them.

I had no clue you were still nursing. How is that going? Excited to tandem?
Oh no! He weaned 6 months ago! I was answering for the 10 month age

I now give whole Cheerios and sometimes offer him a sippy with water if he needs help washing one down. There was a point when I did take a break from Cheerios because they seemed to get sticky and then stuck on his tongue.
He's pretty enthusiastic about table foods at 9 months but still doesn't understand that table food can make him feel full. He spends so much time playing that he really only eats a small amount. I would compare the amounts that he eats in a single sitting to 1-3 of his own baby fingers. On an average day I give him 1-2 opportunities to eat table foods. Honestly, I'm just really stinking lazy but I can tell that he's making progress. I'm also not expecting him to make too much more progress until he gets some teeth. My mom noted in my baby book that I was 10 months before I finally popped a tooth so that's about what I'm expecting with A.
