londoners- adding pages to a US passport

Does anyone know, roughly, how long the wait is to get an appointment at the US embassy to add pages added to my passport?

I read that I can use that DX courier they recommend, but I just really don't trust that or want to be without my passport for that long.

If you go to the US Embassy site in London you can see, I just looked and the earliest appointments available start Sept 2 and go all month.

Not helpful, but anyone else think that place looks like a heinous fortress in the otherwise lovely Grosvenor Square? lol Whenever H says he needs to go there I always start humming the Darth Vader theme tune. Last I heard they were supposed to be moving south of the river into somewhere nicer.

Book an appointment online. When you get there, if there is a long queue, don't wait in it -- go to the very front (towards the left-hand side) and you'll see a shorter queue (or no queue!) for Americans seeking consular services. They'll have your appointment info and you can go right in :-)

I used the courier in 2008 with no issues. It was a very quick turnaround and although I was skeptical it was perfectly fine.
