IMO it's more common on the nest than IRL, not sure why that is. I was on bed rest from 17-19w at home, then 23.5-29.5 in the hospital when I delivered.
Hospital bed rest for 6 days for pre e until I begged my ob to let me go home and she let me. I ended up going back the next night and having them the next morning. Before that I was not really on bed rest just having to take it easy mainly because of swelling and physical limitations. I stopped working at 30 weeks.

I was on bedrest from about 22w-35w, so 13w total. I did 4 weeks in the hospital. It was all for shortening cervix.
Even after I was let off BR at 35w, I essentially just stayed in bed b/c I was huge and out of shape and it was August and too hot to go outside.
ETA: I only know one IRL person to be put on bedrest. I do know lots of twin and triplet moms who went on BR but I met most of them in online groups for multiples.
I expected to be put on bed rest but wasn't. I had GD and went into pre-term labor at 36 and 38 weeks. I wasn't put on bed rest, but chose to stop working after the first pre-term labor and basically stayed at the house after that.
I did not have any bedrest for my first 3. My 4th was a really bad pregnancy, and I did bedrest at home for 2 weeks and then 7 weeks in the hospital and he still came 12 weeks early.
I think I'm the only one I know IRL who was on bed rest. hmm.
and mine wasn't really due to pregnancy (Albeit related)-- my back went out and literally couldn't get out of bed for 2 weeks. lol. Then my doctor had me rest for another week.
I can think of five people I know IRL who were on some form of bedrest -- two with twins, one with triplets, one with pre-term labor, and one with pregnancy-induced hypertension.

Hospital bedrest from 27-30 weeks. Very unexpted - I went to a dr's appt in the am thinking I would be heading into work right after and was immediately sent to the hospital.

I was on bedrest with DS1 from 30- 38 weeks when I was induced due to pre-e. With DS2 I kept expecting it, but had an uneventful pregnancy and went into labor on my own.
I know a handful outside the nest/bump I suppose. I had a feeling all along it might happen to me despite the fact that my pregnancy was uneventful during 2nd and 3rd tri. I just knew I would not be one of those women with a completely perfect pregnancy. So I made every second count in 2nd tri getting projects done and I'm glad I did since I went on bedrest at 33 weeks and delivered at almost 36.
