We are on t-mobile and Mr. GT is on plan #2 and I have 3gb of data. I ran over on my data once because I was streaming a lot of data. I could notice a difference in the speeds, but it wasn't really a big deal. Since this is your first smart phone I would do with option #2 and upgrade if you need more data.

We are on t-mobile. DH has 1 gb of 4g data and I pay the extra $10 for 3gb of 4g data. DH has never over run his and I probably could downgrade now that music streaming on Pandora is not counted against data. I would start with the 1gb and if you are going over consistently move up. You can also move up mid-bill cycle if you find out sooner rather than later that you want more 4g data.

So is this true about Pandora? I asked them and they seemed to say that was only true with the simple choice (unlimited plan).

I'm pretty sure. I just went on their website and this is what it says. I know the international texting is true since I've used it before. I'm assuming the music is true. I stream probably 4-6 hours of music every week while running and I only used 1.07gb last month, I'm pretty sure if it wasn't included my usage would've been higher.

Yeah, but that says right there that it is only for the simple choice plans, not the other plans ( I underlined it)

I just checked my bill and it says "CURRENT PLAN: Simple Choice Plan: Unlimited Talk + Text" But I only have 3gb of 4gdata, you still get more data just not at 4g speeds so it is "unlimited" data in that terms, just slowed down after you hit the barrier. I would call again and ask about the music if that is what you are going to use the data for.

Yeah, the 5GB plan I was talking about is NOT part of the simple choice plan. It is outside the system. But I did call and they said it doesn't count against the 5GB plan either.
It is weird because the 5GB isn't called unlimited but it kind of is. Becuase it is 5GB for $15 and then after that it kicks you down to a lower speed. So my current plan is $64.99 and then it would be $15 on top of that. Vs. the simple choice which is $80 (for 1GB) and 10-15 (for 3-5 gb)
How do people use such little data?? I'm on wifi at home and at work and just checked my data usage for the current period is 30 GB. Am I looking at the wrong thing?

Umm. That is a MASSIVE amount of data lol. Although to be fair my husband used 49 GB last month. He watches movies on the way to and from work (so 45 minutes each way). Then he streams music all day at work. Plus everything is set to refresh quickly so he can make sure to get his email and what not up to date.
I googled this and it says that 1 GB of data =
• Sending or receiving 50,000 e-mails (without attachments) • Streaming 33 hours of music • Viewing 1,000 web pages • Posting 2,800 photos to your Facebook page • Watching more than 8 hours of video on YouTube (Higher quality video, like Netflix, uses even more data)
So I kind of wonder if your phone and his are streaming data constantly for some reason?

If you are using that much data, you probably aren't on wifi like you think. 30 gb is insanity.
I don't know how fast T Moble's data is, but on Verizon, anything below 4G is impossibly slow. I think the 5g at all 4G is by far the better option.
I use my phone constantly without wifi on the weekends (when I'm outside or down the shore- no wifi) and I average 3 GB in the summer. During the winter months when I'm mostly inside, I rarely hit 2.
But even if I'm not on wifi all the time, I can't see how I could possibly use that much data. How could i not be on wifi? The little symbol is at the top. I play Candy Crush, tweet, and read message boards and Feedly. I don't watch Netflix or stream music. I use navigation twice a day and occasionally listen to podcasts and I Heart Radio during my commute. How can that possibly amount to 30gb of data when 1gb sends 50,000 emails?

This is why my husband things he has some app that is just constantly using data (since he has high data amounts too). It is his work phone so he doesn't really care but if this was a personal phone I might want to call your provider and ask them to break it down for you. I am sure they can. I am just curious! lol.
