How do you know when they are ready to potty train? What made you decide to start potty training? Is there a window for the easiest/fastest time to potty train? Would you hold off on one to have them potty train close to the same time? Or when each is ready? I haven't done any reading up on this yet, so I don't know what I don't know!
My b/g twins are 17 months, so too young to start potty training, I think. My mom watches them twice a week and has mentioned that she thinks DD could be ready to potty train. She regularly wakes up dry. Before she pees or poops she grabs at her diaper and tries to get your attention. She'll then go stand by the baby gate and once you open it she'll walk to the changing table. I bought potty chairs last time I went to Ikea so I got them out had let them sit on them for fun. Today instead of walking to the changing table she walked into the bathroom and sat on the potty. I didn't take her clothes off so I don't know if she did anything while sitting on the potty. I then changed her diaper and she had a very wet diaper.
I like the convenience of diapers now, so I don't think I want to potty train yet. And we're starting daycare in 2 weeks so that will be a big enough change. But if she's giving signs now and I keep her in diapers, will she get used to having dirty diapers and not want to potty train in the future? How do I encourage future potty training without actually doing it now?
Not there with my twins yet but just pt my singleton. He would say I have a poopy diaper right before going, hated being changed but also hated wet diapers, and I had read the 3 day method works best before 28 mos. So we just went with it. So far so good. Not perfect but it did work.
He just has issues when he gets too distracted and thrn might pee a tiny amount before realizing it and running to potty. He was scared to poop the first couple of days but since yesterday has gone several times with no issue. Just says I have to go potty and goes.
