We have sliding glass doors from the dinning room onto the deck. (Pic below to show you) anyways Dh and I have this ongoing disagreement about whether to hang curtains there.
DH thinks that they would just get in the way and be pointless. I think they would be wonderful. When I watch tv in the mornings I have to move the dog bed over so that the sun doesn't reflect off the floor so I can see the tv.
First world problems, lol. I think that I am going to start looking for some curtains for it. He can leave them open when he doesn't want them to be in the way.
Brought to you by blinding myself trying to watch tv this morning.
(Please ignore the mess on the table, the dog hair on the floor and the rest of the mess.)
Yes! Definitely hang some curtains there. Just make sure they are easy to slide to one side. What color do you have in mind?
I'm not sure, I'm thinking a dark brown maybe. I want something dark because then it will block the sun more and I won't have to put a black out curtain behind the "visible" one.
When we moved into our house, the family room had dark brown curtains, and after a while I just couldn't stand them anymore. They were so dull and ugly. When I replaced them with maroon curtains it was such a relief. Also, depending on the fabric, even a dark color can let in a lot of light. In my bedroom I have "blackout" curtains that I got on clearance at Sears for $7 a panel, and they are fantastic. They are a light teal, but with the blackout material, they let almost no light in. If you look hard enough you can find blackout curtains cheap without needing a separate liner behind a regular curtain.
We have vertical blinds in the familyroom sliding door. We actual have another sliding glass door inside our basement separating two interior rooms. Eventually I will put up black curtains there.
