Is anyone working on any fun projects this weekend?
We decided to just chill this weekend and so I get extra me time . I am working on an Elsa dress for my oldest... Once I figure out this one, I have two more to make. Here is my progress so far...
It looks great so far. I'm home all weekend but have lots of not fun things I need to accomplish. I did manage to finish piecing a quilt for a friend's baby who is team green and has a jungle nursery theme.
I started piecing a quilted pillow cover (from the scraps of the lap quilt I've cut out- the smaller size seemed like a good place to start)- I need to pick up more white thread today, so we're making a Joann's run later. DD wants to be Elsa for Halloween, so I'll be working on her dress soon- don't have the right fabric yet. Nice work on yours, fasa !
The beaches and parks all get too busy on this weekend from the tourists/snowbirds hanging around for one more weekend- we really start heading to be beach/park/outdoor stuff around October. We will probably blow up our big inflatable water park for the kids and the neighborhood shorties tomorrow, though.
Hi, I'm new here and hope it's ok to just jump in! I have a one year old daughter and my plan for this weekend is to try and turn three of her onesies into onesie dresses. I've found a couple tutorials online, but nothing that's exactly what I'm looking for so hopefully I can mix a couple together and get a good result!
I just got my machine back from the shop and spent last night double checking my scant quarter inch seam. I want to work on my park bench block of the month. I just made two pairs of pj shorts for Ds that I promised him "this summer". I'm cutting out a shirt pattern to make a wearable (hopefully) muslin before I use my favorite fabrics.

Are you going to work from a pattern or are you winging it? I used the mcall's pattern and I am finding 1). I spent way more than if I had just bought the dress... Even though I bought everything on sale and/or used coupons. 2). The sizes run large. I have a almost 3, almost 5 and 6 1/2 year old. I wanted the dresses to be a little big so that they would last. I figured that I would be making a 3/4, a 5/6 and a 7/8. I am glad I started with the 5/6. It was Extremely large on my oldest. I will be having to adjust a lot!

I'll just put together a pattern- I like making my own. There was one McCall's dress pattern that got me like that- I made it in a 12m size, actually with less length than the pattern (I saw it getting out of control)- it fits her nicely at almost 5. LOL DD's pattern HAS to have sleeves ("clear sleeves")- that is cute, though.

finished off an elsa cape for my niece today.
it was my first time trying to do a curly hem w/ fishing line, I think if I do it again i'll have to get thicker line b/c what I had didn't seem to make it very wavy at all.

Welcome! Definitely jump in -- and share your crafting pics!
It's still too hot here for my knitting to sound appealing. I'm collecting wreath ideas but I haven't made a supply run to do any of them.

I think we will see a lot of Elsas and Annas soon. My girls are obsessed with Frozen so I need to make costumes for them too! Tried to convince ghe little one to be Olaf, but no go.
DD has 22 girls in a class of less than 30. There are so many Elsas in that place on any day of the week- lunchboxes, tees, shoes. I'd rather her be pretty much anything else- there will no doubt be 10+ Elsa's- but, she's determined, and it's certainly easier than some of the kids other costume choices.
I just ordered fabric last night- the fabric alone was easily $30 (on sale, Fabric.com sales aren't what they used to be, though). By the time we add shoes and a crown (might just make this), barf. This is something she'll wear again, at least.

I saw a cute pin where you take a roll of lace and super starch it, then sew the ends together to make a crown.

I'll probably just cut one out of cardstock with my silhouette and glitter it up, I have some crown patterns already that will do. But thanks for the cute idea- I might get around to it, too!

I was hoping to make an Anna for my little one... No dice

Mine both want to be Anna. Go figure.
I am jealous. I like her character so much better than Elsa.... Plus, you don't have to mess around with the dumb see through material that shows all the crocked seems ?
