Testing for alcohol in breast milk

I went to a wedding on Saturday and was drinking. Not too heavily...maybe one drink an hour. I definitely felt buzzed though. I pumped halfway through the wedding and was planning on dumping the milk, but bought Munchkin alcohol testing strips just to see if alcohol could be detected in the milk (it feels like such a waste to toss good milk). The strips came up negative for alcohol. I'm just not sure if I trust the test, though. Have you used these strips? Do you trust them?

I just don't want to throw out 5oz of breast milk if I don't have to (I have a very small stash). But, on the other hand, I don't want to give my baby milk with alcohol in it.

I always erred on the side of caution when it came to stuff like that. I would probably dump it, even though I know that pumped milk= life.

When I used them, I did a control test before my drink because of science. Haha!

I don't know what i would do but I might use it.

Lol. I actually pumped twice (once during the wedding, once 4 hours after my last drink). I thought the pump during the wedding would be my positive control, but it was just as negative as the later pump.

(Popping in from ML) I believe you can also combine that pumped milk with another pumping session to "dilute" it. Is that right?

This sounds like a good idea if you are nervous. I would trust them.

At one drink an hour I'd probably feed it to the baby. I like noodleskooze 's suggestion, too.

I never used strips (I only drank, maybe once while I was nursing). I marked that bag so I knew it contained possibly some level of alcohol and then intended to mix it with 'clean' milk. In reality, I didn't use that bag for probably 6 months and I think she got it whole. I think DH must have pulled it from the fridge and not seen my note. I saw as long as you aren't wasted, it's no big deal.

I would dilute it
Put 1 oz of milk from there with the rest fresh milk
