There is an article on Yahoo about the lawsuits that are coming from the shooting. One man said he wants to sue the theater.
I have mixed feelings about this. If a man, dressed like the shooter, came into the movie theater and threatened or showed what he had on him, I don't think I'd try to stop him. (Beyond calling the cops after he walks away; if he didn't threaten to hurt me if I did). Now, I'm not sure how he got in there or if any of the staff say him, but I can't imagine no one would.
I feel like the only person to blame is the shooter himself. I sort of feel like blaming the theater is as good as saying "I'll sue the people who came too because they could have stopped it as well". Except, no they couldn't. Have people met theater workers? Most of them are just teenagers or young adults. Or, people who just don't expect that to happen.
Is there something I'm missing? Are there other details out there about how he got in?

I think people are suing the theatre because there was an unalarmed emergency exit door at the front of the theatre. Apparently, reports are saying the gunman bought a ticket, entered the theatre and then propped the emergency exit door open so he could go get weapons from his car. Again, I think this is all speculation, but there you have it.

I have heard that the emergency exits were not alarmed, and he was able to prop/lock them somehow because of it. I find that kind of egregious. Everything else that I've heard I wouldn't hold the theater accountable for. If I read the same article you did, the guy who wants to wasn't even HURT. He needs beat with a baseball bat if he thinks HIS misery is worth monetary gain in all this.

I don't think lawsuits are the right course. But I do think movie theaters should have alarms on their emergency exits, which is what the shooter propped open and how he let himself back in.
