I went on an interview this afternoon and would like to start making calls to daycares while I wait to hear some feedback. If I don't get this job, I am looking and hope to find something in the next few months.
We live in Midtown and would love something near home. The few I know ended up being morning out programs only (boo).
Also, has anyone used sittycity or care.com to find a babysitter in ATL? We are getting desperate for a sitter.
Thanks for responding! Care to share your criteria for choosing a daycare? I should have done a Google search first, some Midtown Association website names a bunch of them. Apparently, I should call a different number for full day care vs the morning out programs.
The xriteria: well, for being attached to my work, its a pretty nice place. I believe they are open to the public, but I'm not positive. I just like the fact that I can drop him off in the morning and stop by any time during the work day to check up on him or feed him or just CIO (for ya know, ME) that I'm back at work ;D
lol, I totally understand the CIO aspect. I am torn now then. Maybe I will get lucky, get the job offer, and the employer will have a childcare center for employees somewhere nearby. A girl can dream.
There used to be one at Atlantic Station but it shut down. I don't actually know anyone who has their kids in daycares in Midtown that aren't attached to their office somehow.
Oh and I signed up for sittercity and was thoroughly underwhelmed with the people who replied, and ended up never using it. But I know people who have and liked it.
Thanks frlcb! What about care.com? I am hoping to nab a possible sitter from the gym daycare, but every time we go DS acts up so it doesn't seem like we'll get prospects any time soon. lol.
I haven't used care but have some friends who have and they were happy with it too! You could call Georgia State and see if they have anyone who would want to sit? Or Emory? I am not sure who you would call but usually universities have lists of stuff like this!

Choco, are the jobs you are looking at generally in the midtown area as well? We lived in midtown for 10 years, but have since relocated to another area of the state. I did not have a kid when we were in midtown, but will link you some of the centers my friends used. A number of the employers have affiliated daycare centers. I don't remember what you do -- is it professional services? My last law firm not only had a great affiliated daycare (it was not run by the firm, but you got priority slots) but half the tuition was subsidized -- there are a number of professional services firms in the Atl area that have similar programs.
Beachdweller, the job I interviewed for is near Decatur. We live in Midtown and DH works downtown. A friend told me that my prospective employer does have a center and that they have space for toddlers. I would be over the moon excited if it were that easy and we get a subsidy on top. A girl can dream, right? Also, thanks for the tip about the nursing schools. I will see if there are early childhood programs around the colleges too since I had a list from the colleges in Tampa while we lived there.
