Hi! I am mainly a lurker on this board, but I have gathered many sales and shopping tips from all of you – thank you for posting your great finds!
I bought my son a train table, tracks, and wooden Thomas trains off craigslist. The table and tracks are in great shape and so are ½ the Thomas the Train cars, but I want to get him some new ones too – is there a store or website you use to purchase your wooden train cars at a discounted price? There are a number of sites that claim to sell authentic Thomas the Train cars, I don’t know if I can trust them (I don’t want to buy trains with paint that will come off if he puts them in him mouth or break easily) or should I just suck it up and purchase them for $14 each at ToysRUs (I think the majority of their coupons excludes Thomas the Train accessories) Thanks again!!
@tokenhoser - no he's not really into a brand, but everything else is Thomas so I was planning to stick with Thomas trains (superficial I know, but I have some OCD about things not matching) Nenibay - I'm going to look for that flyer Ashley&Scott - I shop Amazon a lot I'll check out their prices more and look for the motorized engine
Meh, the littles outgrow Thomas and friends pretty quickly. DS played much longer with his Brio wooden replica trains and the Lionel ones that are based on real locos and have a story to go along with.
No AC Moore in the South either. It is totally hit or miss, but my TJMaxx had a bunch right before Christmas. Your best bet is probably amazon. I will say that my train loving 4.5 year old much prefers his generic engines and some that came in a Melissa and Doug set.

Toys R Us has Thomas on sale this month. Various things and different cars (take 'n play, wooden, trackmaster) but if you go on their website I think it will tell you!
I have found Thomas wooden trains at TJMaxx or Marshalls. They are like $7-10 there vs normal price of like $10-15, so a few dollars savings at least. My son much preferred his Thomas trains to the generic ones.
Thanks for all the suggestions ladies-I've checked out trainsgalore & ToysRUs websites and I'm going to a store next to Marshall's this weekend so I'll check it out too - I'm disappointed we don't have an AC Moore, but it looks like I have a few options for buying trains - now I have to keep my spending in control!
