So we thought Dh's GI Bill was suppose to run out on August 1st. They actually recalculated and it runs out on December 1st instead. However in the mail today was two bills. Because the school did not change how they were billing the VA until two weeks ago they have been over paid. So now E and I owe the VA roughly $1200. I think if the school was over paid they owe us that money so we can pay the VA back.
Has anyone dealt with this before? I'm wondering if we just should figure out repayment and leave the school out of it. Or if we should ask the school about it since they were over paid.
Not on the GI bill. But the AF is paying for my school. I don't know if this'll help...
They paid my tuition for summer semester when they shouldn't have. I basically was trying to figure out if school messed up or AF did. I emailed a bunch. School submitted something they shouldn't have and they pretty much fixed the issue on their end (good thing I asked becUsevthe AF just subtracted what they overpaid out of fall and thankfully I expected that and had the money from summer!!)
Overall. I don't think that story helped. But I bugged people until it got figured out and I can commiserate with your pain

Thanks Beans. I think I'll have Dh pester the school and call the VA about it as well. I mean it is the schools fault because they didn't fix the paperwork.

The school must have been sending statements to someone (probably the VA since you received the bills). If there was an overpayment they would have a record of it and for all you know they just haven't figured out what to do with the balance. That amount of money is worth it that I would bug the school to find out. If it was $12 instead of $1200 I'd just send a check, but for that it's worth it to poke some people. Offer them cookies or whatever.

lol killercupcake. DH and I have gone rounds with the VA.
First, call the school. They are going to be easier to deal with than the VA. The VA should've sent you a form or some paperwork on how to dispute. Do that to buy you some time.
