Eh, I am with you. My h would like our house completely closed up so there is no possibility of remotely seeing in.

I like them alllllll open.

He doesn't want someone walking up to the house and looking in. I think he is weird... we live in a nice neighborhood. But he grew up on a busy street so maybe that is the difference.

It drives me fucking nuts. He even wants curtains on and closed on the side windows of the door.

Most of our first floor windows have those temporary paper stick on accordion blinds on the bottom half. It provides privacy on the bottom pane and still allows light in on the top pane.

I would love to leave ours open but given the crazy heat, we have blackout curtains to help keep it cool and the energy bill down.

No one can see in our yard/house so this isn't an issue.

At our last place it was an issue but there were blinds so we were able to keep them partially open to let some light in.

I would be annoyed about living in a cave.
