Morro Bay/Hearst Castle & Monterey/Carmel hotels

DH and I are going to take a trip up the coast for a couple days to the area near Hearst Castle, then up to the Monterey area before cutting across to Lake Tahoe.

Do you have any places you like staying in either of these areas?

In Morro Bay, we've stayed at the Blue Sail Inn and a BW hotel.

I was looking at maybe the Mission Ranch in Carmel, but would love some options for Monterey too. I've stayed at an Embassy Suites in Salinas before which was wonderful, but it's a little more $$$ than we need to be spending up there.

Also, if you have any restaurant recs that would be awesome!

We loved the Mission Ranch. Also, it was kinda a splurge (for us anyway) but the L'auberge (sp?) in Carmel by the sea was great. Didn't stay anywere else but there were TONS of great little B&Bs and inns nearby.
