Brown Sugar Pound Cake or Sour Cream Pound Cake?

i'm visiting my parents this weekend, and my mom's birthday was yesterday. my mom loves pound cake, i'm meh about it so have never made one before. i have a recipe for brown sugar pound cake w/ an optional glaze (i would make it and glaze half) or a sour cream pound cake. i don't know which to make.

I'm with puddle on this one. I really can't make a good guess until I've tasted both.

I voted for brown sugar, even though I imagine sour cream would be more moist.

I found some pound cakes online that involve cream cheese! Nomnom.

I would go with the sour cream pound cake. Does it have any kind of glaze for on top?

can you taste the sour cream in sour cream pound cake? i've made every dessert and cake under the sun but have never made a pound cake.

the sour cream recipe doesn't have a glaze, but i'm sure i can find one.

i was leaning towards the brown sugar one b/c the glaze i found looks like this:

I would do this. I like pound cake to be as dense and moist as possible, and I think you'd have a better shot at that if you use sour cream. I like the idea of the brown sugar glaze for a birthday cake.

No, you cannot taste the sour cream. And if you put it with a brown sugar glaze, you wont taste it at all.
