I didn't want to go off on a tangent in the Olympic thread, but whatever happened to that person who scheduled their wedding in England during the Olympics with a ton of international guests? Are you going to the wedding or did they reschedule?

YES! I was thinking about this the other day.

It was my sister who was going to the wedding - but! the wedding got called off! When her visa (and money) ran out she came home for a little while and was living with her mom and had a total freakout that things had gone too fast and she wasn't ready.

So she flew back to England, had him meet her at the airport, dumped him, and turned around and flew home. Insanity.

My sister still thinks they'll get back together eventually, but her friend is really kinda immature and just was.not.ready for grownup life. Fresh out of college, had never been on her own, etc. And he was even younger. I think they're lucky that she came to her senses, but he was completely heartbroken.

Whoah. While that sucks, it's probably for the best for everyone involved.

yeah...that was my thought too. But she felt like she owed it to him to do it in person since it was a broken engagement, not just a regular breakup.

I just asked my sister how they're both doing. Apparently her friend has pretty well fallen off the radar except for the random times when she tries to convince my sister to come visit her in Cape Cod, but as far as she knows is trucking along perfectly happy. EnglishBoy is still pretty damn heartbroken. And it's been almost a year since it was called off. He's stayed in touch with my sister because his ex won't talk to him.
