i buy SO much out of season it's ridiculous. i have a handful of sweaters i've had for a few months and they won't get worn until probably at least october. but for the stuff i wear now, usually if it's waiting in my closet for longer than a week or 2, i end up returning it.
Usually, if I don't wear it within a couple of weeks, I return it because it probably meant I was on the fence about it anyway. Unless it is for an event or I bought it out of season.

I tend to buy multiple colors of the same item (for no good reason at all, really), so I don't wear all of them right away. I also buy stuff out of season, so that waits as well. I occasionally end up donating NWT stuff if it doesn't work out how I expected. I very rarely return things.
Right now I have one blouse and a dress in my regular size and a bunch of maternity stuff that I'll need soon, but not sure if next month or a little longer.
I wear things I buy almost immediately. There's always the occasional exception where I would buy something for a season that isn't quite ready yet. I don't do that very often though. I feel like I have to wear my 'new' thing right away because I'm so excited!
I guess I did buy a handful of items from Old Navy right after I had the baby and I thought I would totally wear it all. I think I have worn some of the pants once and never worn one of the dresses. It could be too big at this point for all I know. I'll revisit it eventually and probably donate it.
I usually don't keep the tags on for longer than a week. Right now, though, I have two tunics, a cardigan and a Broncos jersey just waiting for my post-partum belly. I am having a hard time listening to all the people who caution that I should wait to buy clothes.

I have some NWT things in my closet that are 6 years old. Sometimes I only *think* I want / need something. I've gotten much better about impulse spending, but only recently.

Usually right away but I have been buying stuff for fall so I have a bunch of sweaters, some new jeans, about four pairs of booties and 3 kate spade handbags all with tags still on.

I'm so bad w this. Lots of my clothes are NWT because I like them so much I tuck them away for a "special occasion" and then never wear them. I have a rotation of tried and true fave outfits I almost always reach for over the new things. It's crazy and I need to start using them!!
