Almost time to TTC, yay! I've not posted in ages, don't even know who's around anymore...but...
In the school of "drink til it's pink," can someone explain to me how I can safely do this throughout my cycle without yet knowing my cycle??
I mean I was thinking the other day day that after getting off the pill (in theory) they say the hormones leave fairly quickly and I should get my period shortly. But I won't know what my cycle is like right away so what happens if I'm one of the freak people who get KU right away before a period even, and I'm all la dee daa having my wine while oops I'm actually pregnant, but had no reason to test because I just got off the pill, KWIM?
(Does this question make sense?)
Anyhow...how does one go about this occasional drinking business while trying to get used to your hormonal cycles while off the pill? I'll assume I have no reason to test until I a) Am used to my cycle and am late, or b) have symptoms.
Are you temping? That's a safe way to drink til it's pink - once you ovulate, stop drinking a few days after to be safe. It's also the best way to learn your cycle and whether or not you ARE ovulating.

10 days after ovulation, you can start testing and figure out if it's pink.
Besides that, as told to my cousin who was using all kinds of drugs while she was newly pregnant (it was an oopsie-baby) who debated an abortion due to her use of narcotics by her doctor: The baby and mother won't be sharing blood until about the 6th week of pregnancy. Anything she used before week 6 might affect her overall health, which will affect how nice of a home she made for the fetus, but it wouldn't actually affect the fetus just yet. After 6 weeks, yep, all you eat or drink or swallow is used by the baby as well.
And lastly, it's commonly accepted now that a glass of alcohol once in a while (not every day) while you're pregnant, will not harm the baby. Most people choose not to, as that's obviously the safest.
But really, don't sweat it too much. If you haven't gotten your period by your regular date, just test. if it's negative and you haven't gotten your period a week later, test again. If you keep going like that, worst case scenario, you'll have been drinking for 1 week since becoming pregnant which is not a big deal.

Ok thanks girls, I was/clearly am sweating it, because I feel like a little nervous all of a sudden. And to the second response, no I wasn't planning on temping, at least not initially, because I sort of wanted to avoid stressing or actively thinking about it right away. You see how well this is going...
