Depends on the RFO. When I put in for ADOS, it was within the week but that was because they wanted me to start working ASAP.
For schools, it's barely ever. The way it works with the guard is that each state is allotted a certain amount of slots in different schools. If I apply for a school and there is no slot, I have to choose another or get waitlisted and hope someone drops out. I've only seen it happen a time or two, and not to me, it was when someone failed PT or ht/wt and couldn't go to school so they asked around to find someone to fill the slot. It's a giant PITA trying to get schools. I've been trying to get BNCOC for the last two years but was denied because I wasn't an E-6 and didn't need it. Now they're on my butt about getting it done since I got promoted.
We normally get a drill scheduled at the beginning of the FY which will have our AT dates on it. Most Soldiers will submit that to their employer to give them a heads up. We usually get a blanket memo about a month out from AT to hand in to employers just as a re-verification or if the dates changed, they're aware.
With drill schedules, like BLT, K usually gets his schedule for a year out to share with his employer. Usually issued in Sept./Oct.
His unit was *special* in that his 2 wk (AT?) he had less than a month's notice that he needed to complete AT before July - found this out mid-May. Which was esp. frustrating since he had been trying to get his 3 wk done before EJ was born so that he wouldn't have to do that during the summer and was told that the state was "out of money". It was crazy.
School is another issue entirely; he's been trying to get his classes completed - but, like BLT, they're next to impossible to get into. He should be up from promotion; just waiting for a slot to open though and I'm not sure where he is on the waiting list.
Our unit will get your RFO and change it without notifying you, your family or employer.
Convo I had last week: "DS B you chose these dates for training" "No I didn't" "Yes you did, we have the RFO right here you crossed out ___original date___ and wrote in ___new date___." "Did I initital the change?" "No." "Did I date the change?" "No." "Do you really think I would change the dates so I would miss my daughter's birthday?" "Oh____pregnant pause____ No, maybe you didn't change it" "Have a great day Ma'am".
Had the SAME mother f'in convo with this jackass in October when I magically got orders for NCOES and missed L's bday.
