I did a colorful smokey eye today using my Too Faced Peacock eyeliner and Cannes (a coppery color) from Too Faced A La Mode palette on the dome. I really love that palette...it was an awesome 1 palette for Mexico a few weeks ago. Cheeks are YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush in Rose Frivole and lips are Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint in Fancy with Tarte Lipgloss in Kiss over it.
My ipsy bag this month is awesome. Whoever said November is the best month wasn't lying. The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye concaler is magical. We'll see how it wears through the day.
The Wonder Lip Paint came in a fuschia color that scares me a little, but I put some on last night before I showered (my philosophy when receiving my ipsy bag is to put everything on at one time) and my lips were still tinted when I woke up.
The SeaRx Birchsap Moisturizing Lotion almost knocked me out at first, but I like the scent. Maybe just don't inhale as you apply...
I'm cheating on my Nars concealer with my old cle de peau. I feel like every so often, I need something more opaque but I wish I could find something with the magical melting properties of the Nars. I ordered some Amazing Concealer a while back and waiting on it. I wonder if my ulta would give me a sample of the IT undereye concealer.

Damn, I was going to say that they make a mini size but it looks like they're done away with it. Ulta doesn't do samples.

Mine does, if you go in and ask. Not online, though.

Another question. All I've ever really worn for eye makeup is a quick smudge of eyeliner and some mascara. I am attempting to learn to do real eye makeup with eyeshadow, and I need some supplies. So if you were going to invest in one high-end eyeshadow palette, what would it be?

Lorac Pro. I say that however not actually owning that one (I have the pro 2), and having only swatched the nakeds and chocolate bar in the store.
But I can tell you that one of those will be pretty much everybody's answer - Lorac Pro, a naked or chocolate bar. I think the mix of shimmers and mattes in the Lorac makes it the best standalone palette.

Pros: full-sized pans, beautiful colors, all are close in shade to make blending very easy with no harsh lines, basically an idiot-proof palette as to color and blending.
Cons: *very* powdery, not as pigmented as you'd expect for this price point, colors are perhaps TOO close to one another, thus providing little room to get creative.
I do think this palette might be great for someone who is conservative with her makeup (or a novice) and wants a foolproof palette. The dark colors aren't crazy pigmented, which - lemonade out of lemons - means it's really tough to screw up, unlike Basics, where one bad swipe of the black can force you to clean your entire eye and start all over again. Black eye shadow is damn near impossible to blend if you accidentally get heavy-handed in your crease. Ask me how I know.

I think after much deliberation, I've decided on the It cosmetics naturally pretty palette, unless someone here tells me otherwise. It's all matte, but has some transformation shimmer thingy. Mostly I just really like the colors.

I think it depends on your coloring. My cool coloring (a lot of blue and reddish pink in my skin) has me choosing IT Naturally Pretty Palette as my one palette. Gorgeous colors that allow me to go light and neutral or bold and dark. It's all matte with a transforming powder if I want to add some subtle shimmer. Highly pigmented colors and very, very blendable so it's hard to mess up. If I were warmer (yellows and reddish orange in my skin) then I would choose the Lorac Pro palette or the Chocolate Bar palette.
I used to think one of the UD Naked palettes were great all in one, but the pretty much the entire palette is shimmer, so I don't love them as much anymore.

If your coloring works well with warm colors, I'd say chocolate bar. I also like my Lorac pro palette and I'm starting to like the mega pro more and more. I don't love my naked 2 because of so much shimmer.
I just ordered the it naturally pretty that hamster mentioned but I haven't tried it yet.

My answer depends on what you've decided you're doing for the ball? I'm leaning towards chocolate bar.
ETA: You'll want to get a good primer, both eye and face, and setting spray. One of the small UD all night setting sprays will last a very long time and is $10.

I am totally going to attempt that gorgeous gold smokey eye. I tried to practice last night and realized that I don't have any really good quality eye shadows, hence the research! I'm going to Ulta after work today.

Yes! I think that would be fantastic. Anyway both N2 and chocolate bar have a gorgeous gold in them. However, I would suggest going with chocolate bar because it has a lot of different colors in it and a solid mix of matte and shimmer. It's a really good choice as a "first" palette.

Lorac Pro has a great gold too.
Speaking of gold, I saw a Mary Kay liquid liner today that looks really pretty and got a good review

I have no personal experience with Lorac. Vice 3 has a lovely gold too. But out of all the golds I've personally tried, the one in chocolate bar is my fav.
I got my Birchbox yesterday. It was mostly hair and body care items. I'm feeling pretty meh overall.
I did get a mascara called Secret Weapon iCurl 24 Hour Mascara from a brand called Mirenesse. With a name like that (OMG, Secret Weapon!?!), I had high expectations. It's one of those fiber wrapping mascaras, like blinc. Disappointing. Anyway, it in fact did not hold the curl, but actually straightened my freshly curled lashes, like all the other mascaras I've tried. Darned, stick- straight Asian lashes!!
It made my lashes the tiniest bit longer, but added no volume, so they look kind of spidery.
Ok...I am NOT a Mary Kay fan...but they have a curling mascara that works better than any I've tried. Might be worth giving it a whirl.

I swatched it and think it's very pretty. I don't think you can go wrong with an IT palette. If I were in the mood to spend money on eyeshadow it would be an IT palette.
For anyone who has tried the bye bye undereyes - can you atest to whether it creases? I swatched it on my hand during the sale and it creased like crazy. But is it ok set with powder?
Also, do you use it like the BB corrector? Just on the dark circle, or all around the eye?
I can't give a reliable report on it today since I tried a new eyeliner AND used eye cream this morning (which I don't normally do in the a.m.), and now I have smudges all under my eye. Not sure which one is causing that issue--I need to try one variable at a time! It's not creasing, though. I set with powder. I applied it all under my eye.
I finally got my Sephora order. The HG palette looks so pretty and I like the Bite set. I think I might buy one of the colors in a full-size version for a Christmas gift.

My input on palettes:
It Naturally Pretty is gorgeous. The colors blend like a dream and they're pretty unique. I don't really using the transforming pearl personally... if I want shimmer, I choose a different palette because other brands do it better than It does, IMO. But for mattes? They're amazing.
Now, as for Lorac Pro/Nakeds/Chocolate Bar: I'll continue to recommend Lorac Pro over Naked because there are a lot of dupes between the them, and I feel like Lorac's combination of matte and shimmer plus range of color make it a little more versatile.
As for Chocolate Bar, I have mixed feelings about it. It's unique, but it's not. The colors are all neutral, and at first glance there's nothing special about it that I couldn't replicate with my Lorac or Naked palettes. But when I actually swatch them, the differences are pronounced enough to make it just special enough. I consider it to be more similar to my TooFaced 9 pans- a fun set but not what I would consider an "every day holy grail I'd take it to a desert island and be happy with just that one" type of palette.
I have a lot of sephora sale orders still pending and it is making me a bit nervous. I did get my first order though, which was the biggest. I used nars dual intensity in Dionne today and really liked it. Also used one of the fresh tinted lip balms, I think in tulip. [bbr] The lighting was really warm where I was standing this morning.

Chocolate Bar.
Others may suggest Lorac Pro 1/2.
Any of these are great choices. If you would like to play with color and neutrals, vice 3 would also be a great choice

My foundation order shipped but my bite minis order is still pending as of this morning.
forreals, you look like you have glowcam going on. Always lovely.
OK y'all, I think I need to pare it down.
I have bought the following palettes in the last month: Lorac MegaPro (already used so will be keeping) Smashbox cherry smoke-undecided if keeping UD vice 3 (returned already) UD smoked-looks nice, thinking I'll keep...maybe IT naturally pretty- lovely colors, should I keep? Clinique Black Honey palette-it's tiny! but pretty colors.
I already have Lorac Pro 1, TF chocolate bar, Naked 2 (doesn't get much use), LM artist palette from last year, Naked Basics 1, Smashbox master class II.
How do I decide? Do i just compare the new ones to the ones I have and if there's too much redundancy, return the new ones? Or just say eff it to my kids' college funds and keep them all.
Oh, and I'm sure I'll be having the same dilemma with the lippies I've ordered lately....
