Yes, I'm AWing this. We did the blood test a few weeks ago and dd came back totally clear for everything, including peanut, peanut components, and a large variety of nuts. We go back in 2 weeks for her peanut challenge and if it goes well, she will no longer need to carry an auvi-q and can eat pb, etc.
This is even better than we dared hope for and is very unusual for a food allergy to resolve itself at her age.
I can't even begin to describe how thrilled I am with the results. Anaphylactic allergies are terrifying.
OMG this is my dream. I'm so happy for you! I was telling someone the other day it's not that I want DD to be able to eat peanut butter I would just love her to be able to get on an airplane, go to a ball game or hell even school or the park without fear.
Yay!!!!
I'm sure the oral challenge will be nerve wracking- good luck.
That is great! My oldest's numbers have gone down to almost nothing but she did still react when we did a trial. Her allergist thinks will outgrow based on her numbers though.
How old is your DD? (Sorry if you have a ticker I'm on mobile)
I am still holding out hope.
26 months. Her allergy was discovered at 10 months, iirc.
Her dr was ecstatic, he said it is very unusual at her age. He had previously been optimistic that she would outgrow it by elementary school.
Do you know your dc's #s? Dd was originally a 7.something and is now <.35.
Her results blood test wise are low and don't indicate allergy. It was in the 1.0 range. But her scratch tests the peanut control blows up. We just had them redone last month and it was the same reaction.
That is exciting. Any reason why they did the blood test and not a scratch test before moving right to the peanut challenge (I assume by this you mean ingesting peanuts)? DD's allergist largely discounts the blood test because it is more of a "theoretical" allergy v. skin test which is proof of how the body would responds but maybe her initial blood titres were low enough that they feel good about it?
I'm not trying to be a downer at all so I hope it doesn't sound that way! I really hope that my DD's allergy will go away and I'm always interested in how other doctors treat the allergy so any info would be helpful!
Her blood titers were never super high. They were on the low side for a positive but the numbers don't indicate the type or severity of reaction. She was a 7.xx initially (numbers can be into the low thousands, for anyone curious, there is a huge range). We didn't do a prick test initially bc she was so young when identified and typically numbers climb in toddlerhood so it was best to proceed as if they'd climb and avoid all peanuts/nuts, etc. Because they were so low and her peanut test and peanut component test were done separately thanks to being a poor stick, they are considered to be 2 entirely separate tests and therefore very reliable. He did discuss false negatives but felt that it was highly unlikely under our specific circumstances. The food challenge will include a prick test.
You aren't being a downer, we aren't officially in the clear yet But we are so close! And the risk of anaphylaxis is pretty much nil at this point, which was definitely my biggest worry.

That is awesome - what a huge relief! I'm holding out hope that this could happen for DD, but it's hard to say for sure. I'm curious, how did you first find out she was allergic? What kind of reaction did she have?

We had a RAST test done at about 10 months because she had chronic, unexplained congestion and DH has terrible environmental allergies and asthma. Shockingly, she tested positive for food allergies (peanut and soy) but negative on environmental.
The congestion resolved itself, it was reflux related which we did suspect but given the nature of DH's allergies, our pedi recommended the test.

Interesting - that would be a very surprising result! DD's reactions have only been at her gut level (no respiratory issues) so I have no idea what that could mean for the future. Allergy stuff is so strange!

That is so, so exciting! FX for good results with the food challenge as well.
We just got my son's RAST done last week. His first allergy testing last year was skin prick so it's interesting this time to have actual numbers that hopefully we will see reduce at his next testing. We're managing milk, egg, peanut, tree nut, and raspberry allergies. I can only imagine how elated you are!

Umm, I would so AW this too! Congrats! What a relief and stressor; gone!
When I was teaching dance/theater, anytime we had a kid come into a session with an epi pen it was just so terrifying to think about the "what ifs". I cannot imagine living with it in your home everyday!
