We got ours a year and a half ago. They are LG, the washer is the High Efficiency top loader and I love it. It holds SO much - a lot more than any of the front loaders we looked at and even more than a regular top loading washer because there is no center agitator. When we were researching it also looked like some of the HE front loaders can have a problem smelling musty if the door on the front isn't left open all the time. There was a set that had a dryer with a steam option that we decided against because it was more expensive but that would been cool to have!

We've had large HE LG front loaders with the steam option for 7 years w/ no issues. I love that we have them stacked because we have limited space. We leave the washer door open a lot to prevent door grossness issues.
I have the Whirlpool Duet Steam W/D and I love it. I've only had it a year so I can't speak to durability. I love the steam clean option - it does seem to get clothes cleaner when they're really stained. I like that it has a sanitize option. I like that it's HE. They're front loading and I have them on pedestals, which added to the price but it's nice for storage space (in addition to making them easier to reach). Oh, and I like the delay wash option - I often put a load in before bed with an 8-hour delay.
