Our ST did an evaluation this week since he's now received speech therapy services through EI for a year. You guys, he scored in the middle of the bell curve. His expressive speech is AVERAGE!! (His receptive has always been just fine or ahead of his peers.)
G has consistently tracked with a 6 to 9 month speech delay throughout this process (more often 9), but over the summer he finally had that language explosion. He had 2-3 words at 18 months, and 15ish words at 24 months. He has over 300 now at 2.5 years and even in the last week has started using more phrases. He tells me "stories" and can narrate past events or give me directions.
I am just blown away. He has NO measurable delay. Our ST said that technically he tests out of EI services, but she can keep him on the caseload because he does need improvement in articulation. But we definitely won't be needing transition services once he ages out of EI in the spring.
