I'm racing Athleta's Esprit de She 10K tonight, and I've been really excited for the atmosphere & timing of this race. It's the first official Team Chocolate Milk entry I've been able to take advantage of, and I thought I'd have a nice shot for a PR. (Better than 50:38).
Today I have a raw throat, endlessly runny nose, sore body, and I'm exhausted from long days of silage harvest. (Whine, whine; I know.) BUT; I'm still pumped I can get away to race today, and I'm definitely going to give it my best shot.
I sort of wish I were doing the 5K, but then I reminded myself 5Ks hurt SO MUCH. Lol. I guess the 10K will hurt too. Anyway... Give me some words of wisdom? Make me feel invincible? Or just make me smile?
I'm sorry you're not feeling well, but you can do it! Just roll up to the start line like this. (Note: I Googled "cow running gif" in an attempt to make you laugh. This was the result.)

I am doing that same race (5k) tonight. Watch for a big group of ladies wearing very bright colors and many of them with Moms RUN This Town logos - I'm with them :-)
My positive encouragement - it's a great day out. And you CAN do anything you set your mind to do. Runners all know - it's mostly a mental game. You got this!
clseale -- thank you! You can always bring a smile.
@mn06 - I KNOW -- 2 bubbly tix!! The main issue is my 1 hour + drive back home, but I'll for sure have 1.
schitzengiggles; yay! I'm happy you'll be there. I'll be in an orange & black Team Chocolate Milk shirt. There shouldn't be too many of us, but probably a few. ( I'm Lisa; just yell if you think it might be me!) Are you running 5K or 10K?
Thanks again all. At least I have no worries of finishing. It's so gorgeous out for Sept that I wish it were cooler! I'll report back if I haven't had too much champagne.
It was a 5K/10K with the 10K doing 2 loops, so the 2nd loop I was weaving around 5K runners/walkers the whole time. Not ideal, but it honestly gave me a lot of respect for the slower ladies out there still pushing hard. Some little old ladies were slowly jogging along too, and they were awesome.
I had a few finish line mishaps; I thought I was supposed to go to the right again for the 10K because they were directing us that way, but apparently I should have went to main finish. So -- another 10K runner and I crawled through the barrier to cross the actual finish. And my earbuds fell out of my pocket, got tangled on my foot, and I almost tripped on them. Final time was 51:21, which I still feel was a strong effort for me tonight. I am wiped. Turkey burgers, champagne, and chocolate milk after. This will make a fun blog post when it gets up.

Nice job!!! The Esprit De She in that particular location is my absolute favorite race. Its super convenient for me, even on a weekday night. The parking is no problem. The swag is good, the turkey burgers and 2 glasses of wine after are awesome, and the atmosphere and organization is wonderful. It is definitely a must-do for me every year! And it also doesn't hurt that I PR'd at it last year, and again this year. Special place in my heart!

Yay! I am glad you had fun. Great time too.
It was a perfect night for it. I will be there next year!
schitzengiggles I am glad you have fun, too! Nice work on the PR's. I ran both EDS last year and Maple Grove is much easier and more fun than Edina in my opinion. Edina was fun, too though.
schitzengiggles - how awesome you got a PR! Did you run the 5K or 10K? Congratulations! Sorry I never found you. I saw a few "Moms Run this town" shirts, but it was so crowded with big groups of women in bright colors that I had no idea who you might be!
It was a pretty fun race atmosphere. I've never done a women-only event, and I was definitely impressed. Hopefully I'll be back next fall, and we can meet up with breezy8407 too.

Thanks! I ran the 5k. My old PR (27:00) was from the same race last year. Last night, I got 26:11, so a pretty big PR, too! Even better that it was unexpected...I hoped for one, but thought it was iffy and that even if I did manage it, it would just be a few seconds.
I love women-only events and this is by far my favorite. For being a newer race/series, they really do not have many kinks to work out, if any. Congrats again to you on your finish, especially considering you were feeling under the weather!!
