I did! I did! The plus side of living very, very close to a FedEx depot is that overnighted packages arrive EARLY.
I had my doorman dig it out of the stack of 20 identical boxes of iPhones ordered from Verizon before he had scanned them into our package system because I wanted it NOW
I love the gold and I think I'll be able to live with the size.
It's gold? I'm so iPhone dumb. I think it's hilarious though that the 6 is basically the same size as the Samsung Galaxies (well, the Galaxy 3 and 4) that everyone razzed when they came out.
There are three colors to choose from -- gold, silver, and space grey.

No classic Mac white? Interesting.
I guess silver replaced white? I liked the white. I do like gold better though. The front of the gold is white -- the gold is on the sides and back.
They've phased out the white on their laptops in favor of silver, so I guess it isn't surprising. And I think very early models of iPhone were only in black -- white wasn't always a given on the iPhone.
Me!! I didn't preorder. I went to the store this morning.
How long did you have to wait in line? Â Any craziness to report?
I went to at and t. I had to wait 2.5 hours, but there were only 10 people ahead of me. The wait was more for getting a rep. The line grew exponentially after I arrived. Probably 100 people lined up. The store only received a limited number. They told me they got 4 pluses. 1 - 16, 2 -64, and 1 - 128. They sold out of the pluses immediately.
They were keeping people posted, because why wait in line to find out what you want is gone? They went outside and yelled down the line that the pluses were all sold out. There was this large out cry, and several women were sobbing....because they couldn't get what they wanted. It was, interesting.
That was the extent of craziness. At least for what I saw.

I called my local radio shack at 9 am when they opened. The manager took my name and information on what phone I wanted and said she would call me back when the phones came in and she sorted through them.
She just called me and I am getting a silver 6, 64 gig. I can go pick it up at 11:30 am.
Hmnn, thanks v. I told MH that I'd like to finally leave the house today and maybe go look at the iphones. I might like it if it's not too in-your-face. I think a clear case with some sort of see-through design would be nice over that.
DH just went and hunted down the UPS driver. For reals. The guy knew what he was delivering (I'm sure he's chockablock full of iPhones today) so he left his cell # on the "sorry we missed you!" sticker. DH called him and they met up in the grocery store parking lot.
We now have two new iPhone 6's in white/silver - we preordered through the Apple Store app on our phones. It was easy.
I've ordered a 6+ (gold. HOLLA) through work but my I.T. guy said it'll be liek 30 days. Whomp whomp. I'll compare once it arrives!
So if I did a full manual backup of my iphone 5 to my laptop last night right before bed, and I go to the store and get a new iPhone, do I just plug it into my computer and voila it remembers all my apps and shit?

Pretty much yes.
You have to tell it that you want to restore from a backup, and tell iTunes which backup to use, but it is easy.

I wish they hadn't dropped the black option (even though I always thought it was more of a dark blue). I like the seamless look of the black screen and the black outline of the phone around the screen. I have space grey on my 5S, so it still has the black front. I just want the whole thing to be black. *stomps feet*

RAGE.
After an hour at Radio Shack with an iPhone 6 in front of me with a sticky on it with my name on it, I walked out without one due to issues wiht my account. They couldn't figure out how to grandfather my plan and process the upgrade, it wasn't showing upgrade eligible even though it did last week. I even called AT&T at the store and they couldn't get it to work.
So if anyone else has an old iPhone that they are interested in selling to rikki I know it would be greatly appreciated.
Because apparently I can't get an upgrade until January 2.
Mine is out for delivery! I keep refreshing fedex's delivery tracking so I can run home and nab it when it arrives. The website says it will be delivered before 8pm
So, how does activating it/ transferring everything from my old iphone to my new iPhone work?

You will want to back up the old iPhone to iTunes on your laptop. It will save your apps, photos, music, etc. Then when the new one comes in, attach it to the laptop and load it up. Pretty easy process.
LoveTrains -- how it is even possible for them to have been so wrong about it?
I would definitely call AT&T (again) and pitch a fit/ask for supervisors/etc.
yeah I need to go home and check my receipt for my iPhone 5 on the exact date I bought it. Because I haven't bought a phone since then, and I bought one of those when they came on, so I am super puzzled as to why they are now showing I'm not upgrade eligible on my line. It is some fucking bullshit, that is what it is.
Then they were trying to get me to change my plan to NEXT, but I don't want that, because my old plan is grandfathered unlimited data for two smart phones (ok so realistically 5 GB each for me and H) and it only costs $130/month.

Yeah I mean they would have sold me the phone for a bigger price tag, I just don't want to pay bigger price tag. Radio Shack - if only they could capitalize on their potential and not go bankrupt and close all their stores....
